Question Quake III Arena - possible PPRuNe Deathmatch?

Do any/many PPRuNer's out their play Quake 3 online?

If so it might by fun for someone to set up an online server game for PPRuNe users. I think it might be somewhat cathartic to run around Brimstone Abbey laying waste to 'favourite' posters with a plasma rifle...

As a first step we could just arrange to log onto one of the large commercial servers out there on a certain date and time using our PPRuNe usernames...

Just a thought,

Cheers

Q3 is sooo passe' (?) these days! UT2004 or Far Cry might be the go!

We could create a Draper level, where it's one loooong corridor with no exits...and seemingly...no end!

If everyone had a computer that could handle Far Cry or UT2004, I would go with those. Unfortunately not everyone has a powerful enough computer so something a little older may be better. Halo isn't bad either, but again it will bring many computers to their knees.

Don't even know if mine can handle them goates, but I've seen both of them running on a set that can & they both look great.

The Q3 engine has still got lots of life in it I suppose, just look at Call of Duty.

Perhaps we're going down the wrong path here. We need to mod FS2004 & pop a few Sidewinders on some commercial jets..."No, Tower, I don't think I will follow that company 737...BANG!!"

Falcon 4 is a good flight sim if you want to blow each other out of the sky. IL-2 Sturmovik is another great WWII sim.

I'm up for Quake 3 if that's what everyone else has. We could call it the PPRuNe Quake Bash.

chuckT - I'm almost finished the single and love it. It takes a littel while etting used to how smart the AI is though. At times it can be downright scary. I hope you have a fast system though, as it is very demanding.

What about Medal of Honor? That'll run on most machines these days and is excellent fun.

I got Far Cry the other day - great game, but my poor old graphics card breaks out in a sweat just thinking about running the thing. A timely reminder that Half Life 2 and Doom 3 are out 'soon' and will also require a new card.

I don't have any of the Quakes or Unreal Tournaments - never really been my sort of thing, but I'd be up for some Medal of Honor (Honour - damn yankees!) or maybe one of the Half Life mods (Counterstrike?)

I am not playing first person shooters these days, though I used to love them

I also liked Aces High from Hitechcreations.com and Warbirds, but these days its all about Online poker. Gaming for fun and profit.

I propose a PPRuNe poker tournement. We could probably set it up with one of the online casino's to have a private tournment and even take a rake for the PPRuNe fund.

Cheers

Aha - Wino proposes something he will undoubtedly spank us all at!

I'd rather meet you at ten virtual yards with my trusty BAR!

I'd be up for giving Counter Strike a go, starting to get the hang of it at last!

I agree with digidave, the more frags, the better. Poker isn't bad, but it's not quite the same as hitting someone with a rocket. Sniper rifles are even more fun...

If it's a compatability issue, then we can all play multiplayer solitaire!

My only real problem is connection speeds. My steam driven, 56k modem is a bit ordinary in the ping stakes!
