Hi guys, what did you attach to your application? Is it enough just the CV and cover letter? For candidates from other countries did you attach any comparability statement for your education? Thanks

No cover letter, just a CV. I think it's just an eligibility check from the boxes you check regarding your qualifications, and then you'll get the online tests after the close date.

Prepare the usual is what I would imagine.
I'm not trying to prod people for any hints in order to gain an advantage etc. This is the first time I've been in the position to apply to this particular scheme, and the first I've heard of online tests... I'm only familiar with a written application followed by a selection day. Just curious that's all.

Am I the only one which is having difficulties since yesterday accessing the Aer Lingus website?

I started my application the day before yesterday, but now after I login into my Aer Lingus profile, and click on

Your Applications
Cadet Pilot Training Programme 2017 (28.06) (Draft Application)

I get immediately logged out from my profile...

I also had problems submitting my application,
"We are currently experiencing some technical difficulties and you have been signed out. Please sign back in to continue." Tried signing in, each time with the security questions, I'm getting the same message. I'll try again tomorrow, maybe they will fix this.

I emailed Aer Lingus HR today to find out if someone with a PPL is eligible to apply and this is the response I received.

Dear Applicant,
Many thanks for your email.

Unfortunately, the cadetship programme is only open to untrained candidates who do not hold any licences (valid/expired)

You may apply for the Direct Entry Pilot position if advertised in the near future.

Thank you for your interest in Aer Lingus
Yours sincerely
The Aer Lingus Recruitment Team

In previous years I think it was allowed upto PPL level, so that counts me out now

A user on an Irish forum where I also posted has pointed out that the HR person may not fully understand the differences between the various license types, so I have emailed HR to get clarification on the matter. I also find it strange that a PPL holder would be excluded from applying this year.

How do you know this? It doesn't say anywhere on the application that a cover letter is required nor a CV, although only uploaded a CV because an upload box prompted it.

Cheers!

They would have explicitly stated that a cover letter was required. They didn't even ask for a CV, but it's the only way you can show EI you meet the requirements.

They say that for all their job roles, it was the same for another job I applied for.

Just the cv required. It only specifically asks for a cv, and in the summary page you receive after submitting it states:

Have you attached your CV to this application form? Yes
Applicant Information - CV Attached?
Please use the attach document link on the left hand side of the page to attach your CV.

That circled paragraph is just generic for all jobs with Aer Lingus.

FlyVeryHigh-/EZY_FR

It clearly states 'Attach your CV's and covering letters in Microsoft Word, RTF, or Adobe PDF Formats.'

This is shown on the left side of the page, which is on page 2 of 4 of the application.

So again I'd like to reinforce that both are required.

Bsal has photographic evidence above, that both are needed.

This is the daftest thing to debate, but my interpretation is that that's just a description telling which format any uploaded documents need to be in. I think the clincher are the 's' in CVs and Cover letters, suggesting that it's just a general help comment.

Could be wrong, but based on the actual instructions in the main panel, and the resulting application pdf after submission, only the cv is needed.

To the people who have applied already, have you only received the generic "Thank you for your application" email or have you received any other emails for assessments? Or does the ball start rolling once the deadline for applications is reached? Thanks

Scot; I agree.

It won't hurt to have one attached I suppose; likewise I don't think it will negatively impact you if you don't have one.

Moving on.

When do we think online tests will be released?
