You will not have a frozen ATPL. You have a MPL which means you will need to have 1500 hours first before you getting your ATPL. This is not that bad because everyone of us need first 1500 hours before getting our ATPL. You will not have the same benefits and priviliges as a CPL and/or Instrument Rating holder. I don't know exactly what kind of privileges you will have you will need to look it up with EASA.

Snoop Mysterious Pilot Licence (which no one really knows)

MPL (Multi-crew Pilot Licence) is a rating that you can only fly in Multi-Piloted aircraft. It is equal to the fATPL without the PPL or CPL benefits up to 1500 hours.

At the same time, this licence is valid with the company that you obtained your licence, again up to 1500 hours.

After finishing the course and 1500 hours your licence will be converted to ATPL and the bond will be broken.

You can fly in any airline you want after this, but as far as I know MPL does not come with any benefits of PPL or CPL.
Because in the training phase you are going to be spending less time flying in real aircrafts and more time in simulators.
Obviously, you can always talk with a flight school and complete the required flying hours (especially by paying a bit more and taking more test) and obtain those other licences too.

I'm sure you log enough hours dual and solo to be eligible for PPL... IF you take a PPL skills test with an examiner. But as the MPL (or integrated CPL/IR) is a complete course, there is no need for the PPL and so this usually doesn't happen.

It would be possible to get a PPL mid-training for the MPL, but that would either have to be done externally, or by an examiner at the training school, almost certainly at an additional cost (then the licence cost on top).

I am not sure of the possibilities to get single pilot ratings added on an MPL post-issue. I don't see why you couldn't do the relevant test with an examiner and get a PPL with SEP/MEP or single-pilot ME IR, but you would have to check the licensing rules. Not an MPL pilot myself so don't know more than that sorry.

Why do you have to wait until 1500 hours until the bond is broken?
Your type rating is standard although 12 circuits required in base training for licence issue.

Quite simply, once the MPL is issued after base training, standard line training begins. As you have had the benefit of your company's SOPs during the 120 hours simulator, you are far better prepared for the start of your apprenticeship.
Although there is no restriction changing types/employer post MPL issue, it would probably only occur if they go bust. Happened in Denmark with Stirling a few years back. FLYBE had a 'pause' when going through a difficult trading period a few years ago.

If you completed the PPL requirements during the MPL course, ticked the boxes, then the PPL privileges are granted.
All MPL courses require less actual airborne time than the CPL/IR course. The MPL 120 hours simulator replaces the MCC/JOC.

This is simply a different route to multi crew flying where the training is geared to what is required in the right hand seat.

The only strange criteria is a minimum of 12 take offs/landings as oppose to the usual six for junior birdmen during base training.

You're certainly not restricted to a specific company for the first 1500 hours.

No, not true. You can move straight to another company just like with a CPL.

I like these new pilots that first do a licence and then they ask what they've done or what can they do with it.

Cool.

I'm not sure if this individual is actually in training or just didn't phrase his question properly but I've seen similar else where, never fails to put a smile on my face.
