- An active involvement in their home Church and support from this Church for their application to MAF.
- A sense of personal calling to Christian mission work with MAF.
Religious organisations and charities in the UK have an exemption when it comes to equal opportunities, and are free to stipulate a required religious belief, and involvement.
Which is ironic considering that most religions are founded on the premise of promoting tolerance and equality.
For God shows no partiality... Romans 2.11. Clearly God never ran anything as complex as a charity before.

Just be very careful with MAF.
Its not as angelic as you might think.
There are some definite views in the industry on there operating practises and they are not good.
There are also definite views on how dare you bad mouth such a great organisation.
My only contact with them has been helping a lad get home when it didn't work out and he was basically trapped in country with a visa running out and no way of escaping.
It was all to do about refusing to fly 3 nuns and 90kgs of bibles when the performance and fuel only allowed them to take 1 nun and 50kg of bibles.

The only MAF pilot I knew, had to get evacuated from Papua New Guinea in a bloody hurry after he sh@gged a local chief's daughter, and they were coming after him with a bunch of machetes and a cooking pot. Was last seen in a mental health facility somewhere around the Cairns area having had a full mental breakdown / divorce etc.
In outback australia anyway, they are as popular as a plate of ham sandwiches at a bar mitzvah, because of their business model which requires the pilot to be essentially sponsored and supported by their church, which spares them from the annoyance of actually having to "pay" their pilots, which in turn lets them undercut legitimate GA operators on lots of contracts.
If there's two things I can't stand in this world, it's P2F and religion

I believe the Aussie gov't dishes out long term contracts to support remote communities that could not otherwise afford an air transport service, just like the UK government does for the Scottish Hebrides jock.
I have no idea why they feel it's necessary to subsidize their bible thumping activities in a first world country like Australia, the government throws billions upon billions of dollars into support and development for remote Aboriginal communities, and there's plenty of GA operators who could - and would like to - do the job, without ramming Jesus down the local's throats in the process.
It's not my specialist area but it seems every few months there's a p!ssed off GA operator on the downunder forum, who got underbid by MAF for a contract to service a remote community.

We got the aircraft, we got the fuel, we got the engineers, we got the spares, we got the nuns, we got the bibles but the lord in his infinite glory not sent us any pilots! So me got no option but to close the office early and go to IKEA to try out some beds for a few hours! Praise the lord for display beds in IKEA!!!!

They are the only guys that will charge you $270 when you wanna go out of Juba to Nairobi on a c208. All other fellow-pilots take you for free. Airmanship of the guy I flew with was professional, but they just have this weird vibe around them. They're stiff like stone. Like they pour out christian values on every one but try to disagree with them on any account and see how they react.
After the guy charged me when I really had to get away from Juba for emergency 2 months ago - they left a very bitter taste in my mouth. It was my last flight with them for sure. And praying before departing each leg made me feel awkward.

I've been around aviation for a few years, some of which was in Australia. Not surprisingly, I've also met many pilots from all around the world. And not one of them has ever said anything positive about this organisation. They possess totally opaque values, pressurise the victims they purport to serve, stuff their religion down peoples throats and undercut legitimate operators. This lot deserve to be grounded. God and aviation are not good bedfellows.
