Kuwait Airways Recruitment

Greeting Aviators,

Just thought I would mention that, no more than 2 weeks ago, there were circa. 80+ jobs being advertised by Kuwait Airways online. Now, the website appears not to work any more (it always linked you to an external recruiter site, but would only work in IE8, not Firefox, etc), and the few email addresses I had for contacts in Kuwait Airways have stopped (well, never started!) responding as well.

I am aware that Kuwait Airways is looking to privitise itself in March 2011, but, that shouldnt mean all recruitment stops from now until then, not when they were looking for over 80+ different roles!

Any ideas or help would be appreciated...

Thanks!

SJ

The minimum required bij Kuwait CAA so also by the companies in Kuwait (Kuwait Airways and Jazeera Airways) is 1500 hours + 250 hours on type (A320). Wataniya Airways requires 2500 hours total time and 250 on type.

Hi Echie,

Thanks for replying. I was however not looking necessarily at just the flight deck crew - I myself have been looking at all the basic and advanced management and ground based roles. As mentioned there was a total of over 80+ positions, now inaccessible because the website looks to have been shut down.

Are you working with them currently? Maybe if so, you could shed some light on it?

Thanks!

SJ

I actually have the same question. I have a pending application in Kuwait Airways and have followed up three weeks ago. I was told all hiring are being on hold at this point since the priority is the transfer of employees who do not want to continue working for KAC once they are privatized.

Other information that I know is that they have upgraded their website recently (its in the news, it can be googled), I am not sure if this is related on the sudden absence of the "Career Portal"

Hopefully, someone here can shed light on this.

Hi Echie and RavenLuLu,

I have now heard from someone with a little inside knowledge on this.

Bottom line is, as perhaps we expected, that it seems that KAC are battenning down the hatches prior to privitisation, due for March 2011. They are trying to offload the "deadweight" personnel as fast as they can, and trying to push "voluntary redundancies" on as many people as they can, mostly those over 55.

It is happening in pretty much all sectors. Furthermore, KAC has a long history of "creating" positions for political reasons and greasing certain wheels by offering employment to people as "figure-heads" - mostly Kuwaiti Nationals - and paying them offensively large salaries. Now, they have the difficult situation of trying to offload these freeloaders without offending the network they have made of influencial people.

Perhaps they will restart mid-2011 recruiting, once they go private and restructure.

I wrote to the recruitment hosting company, DDI, to see what was going on - no reply yet. I will update if anything changes.

Would be nice to hear from some people actually AT Kuwait Airways Co on this matter?

Best to all...

SJ

Why Thanks SJ!

Do let us know if DDI replies.

But your estimation of mid 2011 hiring can be spot on. I'll be checking with KAC again next week. I'll post here if I gather anything new.

Dear all,

I have returned with further news. Best way to show the results are simply copying and pasting the email traffic below. I will await more contact:

Dear Sirs,

I was hoping you could assist in an enquiry I have.

Not too long ago, there were approximately 50+ job roles advertised by Kuwait Airways through a seperate DDI hosted website.

This appears to have closed down, as the page states the site has closed and that DDI should be contacted for any queries.

Can you please let me know, as I have myself and a number of other parties interested in roles with Kuwait Airways, who now cannot make any progression and are keen to know the status of the website and recruitment stand point?

Can you please just confirm what has happened? Have Kuwait Airways (KAC) ceased using you for recruitment? Is the site due for update?

Thank you greatly in advance.

I hope to hear from you soon.

Best regards
