More Inane Enquiries on the Etihad Initial Assessment

WHoa! I've been reading the posts and they've all been rather colourful yeah? I couldn't help but observe that the emotions swing from nervousness to excitement to hope to more anxiety to elation to bitterness. Pretty scary. In any case, I just have a question for those who've taken the assessment: Do they allow toilet breaks between the tests or must we remain in our seat throughout the FOUR HOURS of assessment?

Geeeez guys Ethiad owes you nothing.... they can do what they want.... they are not bound by any namby pamby Eurozone labour laws etc.... if you are upset about what is going on and see it as grossly "unfair" you probably are not suited to life in the middle east anyway.

If as you say that person is relative to Etihad staff, the rules are different. Age limit for staff and staff relatives is 30.
Maybe you should calm down accept your failure and think about the reasons you might have not been accepted, instead of suggesting that there's something irregular going on in the company you say you want to be part of.

First off, I didn't say or even hint that Etihad owed me anything. Secondly, I didn't kow that seeing something as unfair was an inhibiting factor in relocating to the middle east.

That 30 year age limit is for locals and staff, not family of staff that aren't residents! Even if that were true, it doesn't mean (surely!) that family of staff should even be exempt from partaking in the first round of assessments and skip straight to the psychomotor and interview...? Don't you think? In what way have I shown that my failure has not been accepted? I am not giving excuses as to why I am not in, just pointing out things to future candidates. I have a very good idea as to why I didn't get in and it's not realated to the above. Do you work for the company? Have you seen the recruitment process? Have you spoken to people on the course? If not then I would leave it at that...

Don't pin your hopes on this too much. I did and you need an insane amount of luck (and of course skill!) to be selected for the course
So future candidates shouldn't bother applying, as they can't pin their hopes on it? You're giving out the wrong vibe here. My advice is go for it, and if it's meant to be you'll get it.

Also, the number of spaces available varied from the start of the selection to the interview. I thought it was 12 but then it was only 7.
It was always going to be 7 or 8 places. There was so much speculation going around the group though that some ended up thinking there'd be 12 places.

Thanks! Yes, I will no doubt give it another try! Another guy I was there with had gone for it for a second time, but didn't get in either...AGAIN.
After all the apparent bad press you've just given Etihad, you might want to think twice before applying again... Etihad staff DO read this forum regularly you know. As for the guy who'd gone for it a second time, yes that was extremely disappointing for him.

There was also another person who got through who was going for meals with one of the interviewers after the interviews but prior to the results coming out.
Is that any different to going out for drinks with one of the interviewers, whilst out in Abu Dhabi?

Surely the fact that he passed the psychomotor test, personality profile, additional spatial awareness tests AND the interview shows that he's a good candidate? Just because he didn't partake in the first round doesn't mean you should be bitter. In all likelihood he probably would have passed with similar results.

Have you seen the recruitment process? Have you spoken to people on the course? If not then I would leave it at that...

Please don't paraphrase what I am trying to say. I think this has all gone a bit overboard. I simply originally stated what I had seen and said that the guys shouldn't pin too much of their hopes up. I didn't say don't bother applying... at all!

I agree, let's just leave it there now. Enough said...

I told you before that nothing is as it "seems" to be when it comes to EY cadet programee.
Some people were bashing me for simply telling the truth but what do I care
There is always back door to everything in this world and most of the time is NOT what you know, but who you know!
I said that at least some of the places will be GIVEN to people with "special" references.
Some of you going to say... So why they spend so much money on going around the world, doing assesments and so on...
Some of it need to be done, as there will be FEW getting in on REAL merits. How would management explain a full batch of "special" ones? There would be way too many questions.
Say what you want but this cadet thing (for foreigners) was the last thing that EY needed and was lunched for wrong reasons.
When it comes to age, I think 30 is max for EY people and their relatives.

Hmmmm... I know we're in the midst of some debate on whether Etihad picks candidates based on merit or connections, but I would REALLY love to know: Are there toilet breaks during the assessment?

Anyways, for those of you out there despairing on your super duper slim chances, here's a few words of hope: If it's meant to be, it's made for me. It's like the fish caught in the ocean half the world away ending up at your dinner table. You never knew it was meant for you. But when it becomes yours, it's yours. Hahahaha... ooooookaaaaaay... MAYBE I'm not making any sense.

You're allowed to go to the toilet all you want between and even during the assessments.

Hey guys

For your information, the candidate you are mentioning did actually take the first round of assessments in December, with staff-related candidates.
Only some of them succeeded, including him.

Keep it simple, maybe he made because he is smart...and relax, he did not skip anything.

for your information,that guy took the assessment of FRA (he works for etihad and he even helped them during the assessment on the second day )....all that doesnt matter anyway...lets face it!!! we didnt make it
Congratulations to all the 6 guys (btw 5 of them are from the uk
