Interviews, jobs & sponsorshipDo ya feel lucky, Punk? Well do ya? If so, here's the place to swap the hot gen on who's sponsoring or employing, their selection criteria, and where those oh so elusive first jobs can be spotted in the wild. Watch out for the tumbleweeds...
haha off topic chentan, but flight sim absolutely pointless for VFR flying during your PPL...
Im sorry to hear that some of you have been rejected, out of curisoity did they say why? What did the status on your workspace say? Mine has just gone blank....and I havent gotten any emails from etihad either
over 10,000 applicants down to 12? anybody anticipate they are going to increase the number of vacancies? Maybe someone can do the math here...would it be more economical to train 50 cadets in the long run with a bond as opposed to hiring new staff year on year?
small factors i think that have been overlooked in this forum,
Arabic Speaking? its a big thing here in the UAE, even as pilots it could have a big advantage
Female Pilots? Anybody on this thread female? The UAE is going through a strong phase of change, A few female pilots could certainly look good to etihads image
Age? would an 18/19 year old have a better chance than a 25/26 year old?
FAA vs JAA? for those of you who have rating already....you think this could play a part
i do not understand one thing. Cadet pilot training means for beginners am i right?? whats the point in naming it as cadet pilot training when they wanted ppl or cpl holders. And getting trained again already after having ur license does not make any sense. In that case they should have separately invited people with ppl or cpl and give them the necessary training. If i m not right Singapore Cadet pilot training is only for those people who didnt have any flying experience. One of my friend said they prefer people with zero flying experience. Hope non ppl and cpl applicants also get a chance.
No dude..you are wrong there..singapore airlines does take cpl and ppl holders..i know quite a few cpl holders and ppl holders who have joined SIA's cadet pilot programme..preference is always given to people with prior flying experience..that is because the license quite evidently shows your interest and passion for flying..and there are again license holders who have been shortlisted for the next phase of etihad's cadet pilot programme..so lets not jump to conclusions without doing proper research..no offence meant to anybody..cheers
i agree....we still dont know how they are deciding BUT training someone from zero is very very risky...training someone who has previously worked for an airline or is fully licensed has its disadvantages as well (different Standard operating procedures, regulations, and arrogance lol!)....It would have made the most sense to pick someone right in the middle....but yeah, good luck to all of you....
as for airlines, yes fATPL or CPL will provide an edge over others in terms of passion .But to make it through into the programme it takes a lot more effort then zero flying candidates. I am speaking from experience as I had quite a hard time with interviews during my era.
SQ does takes in cpl holders, but they are mostly all re-trained with SFC. thus having a CPL does not give you a way out from training of another 18 mths unlesss your CPL/IR is issued by CAAS. or taken with Massey Uni. Again, does CPL/IR gives a candidate better chances? for me i should say no. No offence but cadet programmes are meant for people without flying experience. (my cohort years back has a ratio of 1 cpl : 20 fresh) as for SQ there are tons of candidate whom got rejected despite having flying background. In my recent flying, most of the SO on training are fresh without any experience prior to employment. Thus I would say that its a fair trail in SQ cadet programme. if i am not wrong, the last few batches of cadets with SQ are all non aviators. some whom are even doctors.
With or without a CPL. if you have what it takes you will get the job.
thanks greenfalcon for correcting me. but i dont understand how to prove to them that one who does not have any ppl or cpl can have great interest in flying too. it does makes sense that cpl and ppl holders have edge over others. but for people who cannot afford to get cpl or ppl, they look for these types of cadet pilot programs. i was very happy to see etihad welcoming other nationals. but now its a great disappointment to see that freshers are given the last preference in this program.
I agree with the statement that its too risky to train freshers compared to train someone who has a previous experience. but cant they conduct any tests which can prove that even freshers are eligible?
as we all know when the rumour came out there were talks about 2 to 3 intakes. and as the expiray date is 31/12/08. Does it mean that some one who has been rejected can still apply for the next intakes or if there is a change in his flying background?
aventhusiast?......if you havent been rejected yet, why do you want to re apply?
My contact at etihad tells me that they have sourced 12 more UAE national candidates who were previous employees at etihad as cadets. With regards to the Worldiwide cadet scheme she described the situation as utter chaos with nobody having any clear direction as what to do next....

Chetan787 preference is given to license holders doesnt mean that they dont take guys with no flying experience. The norm world around is that majority of the guys in a cadet pilot programme are freshers with no flying experience. I was just rectifying what you had written in your previous post. So keep hopes high.
As for Airbus380, the ratio you have stated is bang on right but there are atleast one-two license holders in each of current batches at SFC. Trust me I cant go wrong on this one..hehe... As stated previously lets do our research properly before drawing any conclusions. No offence. Keep posting. Cheers.
ZaaZoo, I havent been denied yet, my status is just blank now :s....
Well she said they were overwhelmed with the number of applicants and although shortlisting and denial of a few candidates had begun, they stil have no idea what to do with the majority of them and it would take time....
I've recieved a mail stating that I've nt been shortlisted but what I was really interested to know is that if the same application can be processed for the second intake or can I apply again for the second intake? I would also like 2 state that if it is named a cadet pilot program, it is suppossed to be considering guys even with no experience unlike them hiring ppl holders. I had met the mentioned requirements and I also hold a class I medical but with zero flying experience and yet was not shortlisted.
please can you expand on the format and details of the second phase, eg... were the tests computerised. Also, what was the time frame between being successful in phase 1 and attending phase 2 of the selection process... and where is it held?
i was saying second intake and not second phase. As the program says that the induction of cadets shall be throughout the year, therefore, expecting one more round of review!!!
