Interviews, jobs & sponsorshipDo ya feel lucky, Punk? Well do ya? If so, here's the place to swap the hot gen on who's sponsoring or employing, their selection criteria, and where those oh so elusive first jobs can be spotted in the wild. Watch out for the tumbleweeds...
I was on a job fair last weekend and I was talking to various airline recruiter and agencies. Most of the flight crew agencies required time on type, so I was out the window as soon as they told me we hire only pilots on time. I asked the ladies from Parc Aviation, but how am I going to get time on type, when airlines require TR and Time on that as well?
SHE POINTED AT EAGLE JET INTERNATIONAL, AND SAID THEY CAN HELP YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND IT SEEMED THEY HIRED PILOTS FROM THEM!!
So, I went to eagle jet table and started to talk to the lady that was the head of the eagle jet training with royal air marrock.
My question is if anyone have gone throught their 737 ng programm with royal air marrock? What are the feedback and how long did you guys had to wait in line before starting flying?
PLEASE DON'T START A WAR WITH ME SAYING THIS IS WRONG AND SHOULDN'T PAY FOR TRAINING! IM NOT GOING TO DO IT, BUT WOULD LIKE TO SEE IF IT HAS BEEN DONE BY SOMEONE OUT THERE.
If you have done the 737 ng program with RAM please PM me.
You will be walking all day long in the streets of casablanca like many other pilots, trying to find some couscous to eat and you will wonder why you gave all your money to this company in USA....
I have not heared one good comment of people paying for such program.
I guess they attract desperate pilots who discover later, they are not going to get what they paid for.
Even after loging 200 hours or 300 hours of jet time, you will discover that majority of airlines want pilots with at least 1500 hours.
I am really surprised that Parc Aviation told you that...
Unfortunately from what I here this once respectable program seems to be suffering at present. Alot of pilot candidates recruited and put onto RAM (Royal Air Maroc) and where the time is initially built nicely but then tails off rapidly. Some people reported sitting around dwiddling their thumbs doing almost no flying. However this could be a seasonal issue others claimed they get you into the program and then left the wayside whilst they go and recruit the next lot.
However this is only what I've heard and it may be wrong or perhaps things have improved since. Nevertheless be wary and go forth with your eyes wide open. BTW where did you go to attend this careers fair?
Dartagnan you never seem to offer anything positive about the aviation scene . You have clearly made a cottage industry out of berating and demoting aviation at every step. It's an industry like ay other economic contributor and thus needs to meet the 'bottom line' whilst making a success of it's business plan. If people are surprised by what aviaiton has to offer or not as the case may be then accept it and after making your opinions on the matter clear move onto something more acceptable. However you appear to be a broken record that is all mouth and no substance. Debating and discussing a topic is one thing but to be stuck in reverse gear as you are my friend makes me feel sad.
There are many shops that my wife and I feel are too expensive for our pocket but instead of stopping outisde the shop and crying whilst banging on the window we just move on. The same applies to any other avenue of life and aviation is not immune to global or national economic parameters. You make such an investment in your training and then bemoan it, surely in the end you are the foolish one. What's changed since you initiated your training upto the current day, not much so why this tone of surprise and anguish amongst your commentary?
Anyway sorry this is getting way off topic.
Eaglejet = pinch of salt me thinks.
better to be stuck in a reverse gear, than to be with a broken car and no money to fix it???.
better to stay away from these pay to work scams, but if some cash loaded students decide to go for it, that's their choice, he will be replaced by another cash loaded student after 3 days.
I currently enrolled in the program out of a matter of desperation, I started three weeks ago.
It really isn't that bad at all to be honest. The ground school training really is a lot better than I thought. You do all the usual things like sliding down the inflatable slides, climbing out of a cockpit window (B727), letting off flares, putting out fires etc..The program moves along a bit slow but in return you get plenty of time to prepare for the SIM sessions. I looked at a friends schedule who started before me and she had a rosta with 73 hours on it for March so I dont think thats too bad.
Im happy so far, the place takes a bit of getting use to but the people are quite friendly. The only advise I would give someone is brush up on your French as its a nightmare if you speak English only. The cost of living is extremely low which is beneficial as we're not earning..I feel a hypercrit for doing this but it does seem the indusrty had changed for the worst so what can you do...if you can't beat them join them it seems...
No regrets so far anyway...I will however keep you all posted...
Kaptain Dartagan!
May I ask you why you sound so negative on your posts. At least the one I have read on this forum. Life is to short to be so Negative and in a such bad mood.
I'm currently a captain on a Navajo and a beech-99 with a company in Burbank that deals with eagel jet all time, yes it is called Ameriflight. I deal with the First officers a lot. Some from hong kong, South Korea, Europe and even American pilots that just build multi time to go to regionals. I have to say many of these pilots build their multi time and move on to their goals. I have to say i have not seen or heard anyone complain about eagle jet. They are despite happy with the programm. I have even asked them if they got ripped of or scammed and the anwer was negative. Some, First officers even get hired with Ameriflight on the Beech 99 or something else. So, yes eagle jet can take you there you want, because they have connection and why not use it if you have the money and are desperate.
YES, IT IS WRONG TO PAY for a job while you should get paid, but what if the oppurtunity is not out there and there is someone that can help you and all he ask for is some cash. For example, few months ago i had an FO that was from South Korea (Great First Officer) and he told me the korean airlines are looking from 700-1000 hours tt for Korean Nationlas. He told me genaral aviation doesn't exist in Korea to build time, so his option was Eagle jet. Guess where he is now!! in training for a first officer postion in korea (B737 ).
I belive many of this pilots get jobs once they are done with their time building in the 737 or Airbus, NO DOUBT.
Unfortunatly I can not enroll in the programm with eagle jet because FAA 737 NG type rating does not require 6 takeoffs and landings in a real airplane (like the JAA).
So good for me, I save some money and try my luck somewhere else.
Though I don't think it's right to pay to work I would nevertheless like to congratulate all those that have taken the next step and moved forward with their careers. In fact that's what EagleJet represents these days, part of the training path. Whereas 10 years ago the training seemed to conclude (at least from the student's pocket) at the issuance of a fATPL now it seems to go alot further with SSTR and also line training. Pity really but as I've mentioned in earlier posts such is life you have the choice and control to decide what you can afford to do or feel is most effective.
As for Dartagan well after making some noise isn't it better that you retrain to be an accountant then you could return to the airlines as a consultant and advise on cost cutting measures Or you could study airline management at Cranfield University and then you'd be able to upset not only the pilots but the whole workforce. When you have an opinion please attach reasoned debate alongside it, that would definately validate your views further. Otherwise your comments (and I use that term in a loose fashion) is nothing more than verbal grafitti. But don't feel too bad you're still part of the aviation brigade and thus my friend
Forget about how dartagnan got a job with such a negative attitude and more importantly ask: How did he get a job driving a car around in reverse gear all the time? (does it take miles off the odometer when you do this?)
Must be a bit of a specialty on the streets of casablanca and marrakech...
Hardly a career when your the one paying! However, I will congratulate them on helping to drive down T+C's and decreasing the overall level of experience and quality of pilots in the industry.
Please don't come back to PPRuNe in 5-10 years complaining that you get paid less than than the average UK wage, get treated like dirt, never see your family and the captains you fly with are inept and make many poor decisions.
Please don't blame us, the low timers, for all this SSTR and pay for training, money to read CV's etc
I dont blame you for wanting to find employment but if you dont get a slot right away then you need to work your way up the ladder. Try instructing, do air taxi, buy a TR if you really think it will help but DO NOT PAY TO FLY!!! You are only destroying your own future career by doing this!
BTW it's not up to the pilots, its up to the management to decide on hiring policy.
This has turned into the regular us and them debate, god it is so boring.
Right some facts...... Fact ALL of the september 2007 eaglejet pilots now have jobs. period, all with b737 operators.
Fact, some of the November course have jobs and have a lot more chance of getting a bloody job than if they sat on their arses and whinged.
Fact, the January course are now online and will be building hours dammed quickly.
Fact, you are waiting a coulple of months to get going, you are told this at the start.
Fact, if you are against it tough, life is not fair.
Yes I am on the course and it is bloody hard work, you are PF for both sectors and don't for one minute think that that is easy, flying into deep africa and some of the busiest airports in the world, Lhr, Fra, Cgd, Ams, Mad, will get your blood pressure rising and give you good experence.
You will do ETOPS, you will do CAT III ( as PM but still).
This program works, it is too late to say don't do it because if you don't someone else will end of story. Right I am off the pub.
I had an email from Rishworth for 500hrs on EFIS/NG 737 for 7000 euros in Morocco. Now, I fly for a living on the 737 and am not interested, although somewhat depressed after getting this, but if any of you chaps want the details, PM me and I'll forward the email I received.
