Emergency or precautionary? There is a world of difference.

An aircraft has just taken off, possibly fully laden, and and one of two engines has surged badly enough to necessitate an in flight shut down. I think that could be classed as an emergency landing required rather than just a precautionary one. I stand to be corrected of course.....

Public Press: Idiots!

We do NOT know what engine problems were experienced. For whatever reason, the pilots chose to return to their origin. and did so safely.
Let's wait for the details, kids. I'm just happy that the crew is safe. Does the other stuff matter?
