Classic Crews ?
I know this is the freight dog site but a few of you on here might be interested to hear there's a possible 747 pax operation starting within the next month or so and it seems they might be looking for half a dozen Classic flt deck crews . . . are there any of you guys out there with a current Classic JAR license ( or at least operated the Classic within the last 4 - 5 yrs ? ) and who might be interested ? . . . or is everybody now on the -400

They are not advertising yet so I can't put any contact details on here but there's likely to be more news in about 2 - 3 weeks. You can pm me in the meantime if you might be available. I'm thinking I might go with them so I should be able to put some names towards the management desk if you wanted. Like all these "possible start-ups" they don't always happen but I think there's a good chance that this one will.

I'm sorry but I think we are dreaming if we think that there will be another successful classic pax operation. I think you just have to consider it realistically:
1. Passengers hate old aircraft.
2. Even at $90 the fuel price is high and what does the classic burn, 40% more than the 777, that would nearly cover the cost of leasing a 777.
3. These aircraft are old, they require maintenance unless you're going to cut corners like some of the freight operations. What do you do with 400 pax when the aircraft goes tech., that's $100 a night per person in hotel costs.
4. Keeping these aircraft better than cat 1 will also be difficult, so even with weather issues other operators will have an advantage.
I'm sure the list goes on, but I just can't see it happening. I do hope I'm wrong though....

Kungfu Panda>>>>....and you are such an expert on these things??? You must be an 'Airline consultant". At the age of 32 I think not. Go Back to your MS Flt Sim

747-200 pax are no longer welcome even to Hajj. If somebody is going to setup 742 pax flying that's gonna be way more dirty than Tristars - kungfu panda listed some of the reasons right.
