Hainan will start freighter operations with three used 744F next year to Istanbul, ACT flying freight onwards for them to Europe and Middle East with their A300s, additional 747s in the future will be placed with ACT.

No winglets?

JAL and ANA both purchased -400's without winglets.

Is this one of those?

Anybody know what the fuel burn difference is long haul?

This is not a -400D. It was a regular -400 used on NH's long hauls and also had the stab tanks fitted. MTOW is 396,000kgs/875,000lbs

As part of the conversion stab tanks were deactivated. to -400BDSF MTOW was decreased to 394,000kgs/870,000lbs. And MZFW increased.

Winglet has simply not been fitted again, but will be before the A/C goes into revenue service.

ACT / HNA / MNG

I hear that ACT will get 5 -400 units and replace all B4 freighters with EA306s.
Rumours also has it that HNA group bought a big stake in MNG Technic which just recently received the approval for their EA306 conversion programme.
