With the huge cut in fuel prices, the classics are far from dead. In fact I still see Qantas -300s in operation; not to mention Saudia "HZ" registered classics appearing at asian airports. Some of these classics, in fact, were still coming out of the factory in 1990, two years after the first flock of -400s had rolled out.

The scuttlebutt is that Malaysian have been shopping around. A A I are pretty D**n cheap but there are even cheaper operators coming on the scene! Nothing more....

AIA was purchased by Kitty Hawk, it then became Kitty Hawk International. Connie was part of the BOD and was given his golden parachute and asked to leave. KHI then closed the doors soon their after, Connie had no part of the closure. With in a few months Connie had purchased the certificate, three aircraft and started what is known as Kalitta Air.

Fuel sin't the only reason for the high cost of the classics. Part 26 created for aging aircraft and the increased inspections and repairs plays a large part. Ther emay be some -300 running around for many more years but the -200 are coming to end of their life sadly to say.
