Freight Dogs Finally a forum for those midnight prowler types who utilise the unglamorous parts of airports that many of us never get to see. Freight Dogs is for pilots and crew who operate mostly without SLF.

Can anyone give me some info on these routes and the people who fly there and what aircraft, frequency and what the flights into these hostile places are like? Just doing a data gathering excercise and thought maybe some of you guys could help!

Many Thanks
Jamie

Iraq & Afghanistan

It is mostly AN12 & IL76 aircraft that operate ex SHJ into both Iraq & Afghanistan. Try Rus Aviation or Starlight Maritime who are brokers but control fleets of both types.

Enjoy yourself......there are lots of others but best start with these 2

Upper airspace across Iran and Afghanistan is traversed by most major carriers on Euro to ME and SE Asia sectors.

There is the possibility that whoever you find going to those destinations may very well not like to have that info published.
Also, since the "bad guys" may wish to know those same facts, your credentials and motivations may very well be questioned. Why do you want to know?.

Positioning on a major European carrier, I was amused to see that crossing Iraq, the airshow moving map said we were over Mesopotamia so as not to scare the punters.....no mention of Iraq!

They're no more "hostile" than any New York approach frequency. Enjoy the trip.

Atlas, Evergreen, and maybe a couple others also fly them with 747s a few times a week. Nothing special enroute. Military controllers in Kabul Center; occasionally a few "holes" in radio coverage, depending on where the AWACS is.

The flight info is not that secret, check out the DXB and SHJ airport websites and they list flight numbers, destinations and origins and flight times.
