Freight Dogs Finally a forum for those midnight prowler types who utilise the unglamorous parts of airports that many of us never get to see. Freight Dogs is for pilots and crew who operate mostly without SLF.

AIA sale ??

In view of the problems with MK and Gemini et al, is the planned sale of AIA still going ahead ? it would take a very adventurous investment company to put money into a small ad-hoc freight company with old fuel eating airplanes at this time of spiralling fuel prices.

Hopefully the sale will go through ok, as its a good reliable operation with hard back room staff and crews.

Borrowed from another thread :

Quote:
Cheap fuel in Benghazi is long gone, and from 1 Jul2008 fuel price in Khartoum is virtualy doubling in price. It has become impossible for secondary operators to continue flying at the prices that the exporters and importers want to pay, anybody so foolish will bite the dust
.

If true this will hit small independent carriers like AIA/avient etc very hard.

Dc Huit Fuel

I suppose you could always ask the crews to try the old "levers to idle, pitch nose down at FL400, rubber on the number numbers" trick .. AIA has been for sale since before DC8's stopped rolling off the production line .. I dont think the owners will ever sell, it appears they're too good at the game !!!.

Not surprising Undiemolie, AIA is unsaleable.

Who is going to buy:

A UK based company.

With a South African AOC.

With no established routes and mostly ad-hoc charter flights, ie no gaugeble and projectable income.

South African Equity Partners who must remain and have majority shares in the newco to retain AOC.

Has a bond on the one aircraft more than its value.

Two aircraft that are near C-Check.

Sounds like a steal of a deal to me... surely the financiers behind CAS(DAS) or MK should snap it up?

That is just one of the many spurious rumours going around at the moment. The reality is that nobody knows exactly whats going on except for the Secret Service ie.management.However it should come as no suprise to them when there is a mass exodus of staff/crew in the near future all of whom are growing tired of being strung along and having to draw their own conclusions...

The one that we had who by the way is now a porter on the London Underground was really grumpy especially if he hadn't had a beer or three

Any update on how AIA are getting on, last I heard one a/c was being parked up in Mafeking, however, there are still interested parties looking to buy.

The latest-there has supposedly been a "deposit" made by a certain South African Lady.Just what this means for the future of the company is unknown to all but some....

Hopefully the remaining engineers will be able to fight off the recent outbreak of West Nile Virus-also known as an aversion to any form of hard work.....

undiemole-a return to the original topic is perhaps a good idea however it is good to see that some humour still exists in the remains of what was once a very good company to work for.The powers that be are still keeping everyone in the dark with regards to any potential buyout. The reality is that one aircraft is parked up in JNB and the other has very few hours remaining. They are also going to be losing their loyal staff due to their total lack of communication which should come as no suprise. Two timex aircraft-no crew to fly them. Not much to sell is there? One would have thought that two people that have taken so much pride in keeping this company afloat for so many years would be ashamed of running it into the ground.Perhaps its just a case of they have made their money.......

Hi FDA, its a crying shame that the loyal hard working staff are being treated so badly, I appreciate that there is a certain amount of confidentiality that must be held in the takeover/selling business, but sheer professional courtesy and common sense should mean that some communication or information should filter its way down to the crews/eng/admin staff to keep them on side.

Its a sign of how loyal that the staff are that there hasn't been a mass exodus this past few weeks.

Personally, I would like to see AIA continue as its a very professional outfit full of good guys/gals and its great to see a small independent outfit around in these trying days.

good luck AIA, may you carry on for many a year

lets just hope someone is bidding for the airline ,hopefully someone rich and famous. The rumours suggest the company is being run to a standstill one aircraft laid up in mafeking and the other resting leisurely in manston.both due c check soon ,who is going to turn off the light?
