Freight Dogs Finally a forum for those midnight prowler types who utilise the unglamorous parts of airports that many of us never get to see. Freight Dogs is for pilots and crew who operate mostly without SLF.

Post B747 is with ACT Airlines...

Found following infos at
http://www.airfleets.net/ficheapp/plane-b747-24134.htm

ACT Airlines (active):
Type: B747-21ACM, MSN 24134, (ex PH-MCF), TC-AKZ, 31.05.2008

www.actairlines.com

But that´s all about it. No data on their website acc. B747.

Good luck!

They just put another advert yesterday, maybe they have problems finding current and type rated crews.
I did hear that they were not accepting crews over 60 though.

Well they dont seem to be serious enough.
First of all, I call them and with quite some difficulty managed to get an emaill address to send in my CV. Waitied like a week or so and again gave them a call. First they had difficulty with understanding that Flight Engineer is a part of Cockpit crew but the operator was again and again putting me to Ground engineer dept:
Finally I got hold of some concerned person and he said that I will get some response by this week. The week has already started (unless they work on weeekends too), i am not expecting anything until monday. Lets wait and see. Hope to get some kind of response soon.

Should give them some more time.
Speaking with some Turkish crews from another airline they do say good things about ACT cargo.
Talking with the contacts from Orex the pay is good.
They say routes will be Europe and China.
Remember this is the first 747 on the Turkish register and they have been working on this for some time as a friend of mine confirmed today.
They are really proud of this and should be.
They are looking for current and high time 747 crews age 60 or less.

OREX - they left a lot of unpaid bills when they busted a couple of years ago. Kani Kurtulus is well known for that!

Does anyone know where the acft is coming from

Does anyone know where the said Orex B747F is coming from ? There is talk of TC-AKZ but that is not for Orex ? or is it ? Someone help me here.

Chief T - I agree about kani leaving numerous bills unpaid......but you have to give the guy admiration for keep attracting the investors......because he does get them interested. You can bet you wage packet its not his money.

Good Luck to Orex. Think about it strategically its a perfect place to set up a B747F. Europe - IST - China - Europe. Then throw in all those places where US reg B747F acft are not allowed in.....just South of Turkey ? Lots of work......so long as they get their pricing right and don`t flog it cheap......then it will not work. Just my 2 cents worth.

That's news to me. I do a lot of "N" registered B-747F flying south of Turkey, mostly Iraq, but sometimes overflight of Iran and Syria.

In 2004 they tried to get 2x 747-200 from Korean. Soon after that attempt they busted.

Selection procedures

I'm a bit confused now - donno if anybody went through the same thing.

I applied and got a reply from the DO stating that only JAA licenced crews can be considered (if I understood his mail right).

Days later I receive another mail from him telling me that an agency now takes care of the selection and that I should contact them. I did fill in their
form and received another mail from the agency that the selection (interview and screening) will take a few days and will be done in Germany.
Nice guys at the agency they seemed to be very professional and serious.

Than nothing for about two weeks followed by a mail from the agency that
they don't do business with the airline any longer. Why? Donno, go and figure.

Now a new mail from the airline but pay conditions suck. I stay where I am!

Can you enlighten us on the working conditions. What about the aircraft? Is it the MSN 24134 aircraft, TC-AKZ formerly PH-MCF from Martinair.
