OO-DLL in Baghdad

Hi guys
Just curious. Did DHL ever get DLL flying again after that missile attatck in SDA? I heard a rumuour about 12 months ago that the wing tip had been replaced using aouter wing half from another scrap B4 & that Airbus came down & fitted it,also that 2 servicable engines were fitted. Then I never heard anymore. Anybody got any new info on this or able to confirm the above details?

Still in SDA

The aircraft was leased to DHL at the time, shortly after the attack, it was sold off by the leasing company to someone unknown (rumours that Airbus were behind it) and repairs were made on the ground in SDA... last I heard, they done a full power run on one of the engines which then let go... that was a year or so ago, hadn't heard anything other than there were some enquiries to ship a new engine to SDA a while ago...

It is/was for sale at around USD 5mil... it is still in SDA, although it is listed as being as being in Colorado!!

No, it is listed as being in North Carolina!

It is listed as at Mooresville (Lake Norman Airpark!?) which has a 3000 ft. runway, unlikely. Other possibilities would be Concord or Charlotte Douglas.

Hmmm

Ok, slight error there, but regardless of where it is "listed" as being - I can guarantee you, it most definitely is still in Baghdad

It was definately there this morning.... and was still there this afternoon. Can't imagine it'd been to N.C. in the interim.
aerotransport.org lists it as "Derelict at SDA".

You are certainly correct...the broker listing the ad is a King Air dealer in Mooresville, NC...

Revival!

Hi all, excuse the ancient thread revival!

I just saw a rerun of an episode of Air Crash Investigators I'd not seen before on this aircraft and am keen to know what ended up happening to it. I've read numerous theories but no clear story sticks out...

Any new info, 14 years on?

Cheers,
Dan

Shame really. Basic aircraft was in good shape although the wing was only repaired for a ferry flight to the Gulf for proper rebuild. Problem was nobody was willing to hire engines for a flight from BIAP. One engine failed during hi speed run. Sand ingested during the landing turned to glass in parts of the engine we could not borescope. Both engines were removed and shipped to Kuwait in an "empty" curtained food truck. They were rebuilt and ass far as I know are still in service.
