It is not the salary you should enquire about its how much is left over after paying for your living expenses.

Leaving the UK (or anywhere) with a family to come to HK could be considered a form of suicide.

Thanks for the replies but I'd like hard facts please if someone could break it down. I've been contacted by someone inquiring who has family ties to HK, and right to live and work in US and U.K.

While I won't be recommending anybody come here due to our myriad of issues, I'd like to give him accurate facts.

He is 30s with a family. I'm a based B scaler and have no idea what guys are joining on these days.

If he joins through the TT program my understanding is that he will get 850k HKD over the first 6 years, paid on yearly on DOJ. Figures are slightly less for AE, CP I think

You should just join..... Everyone else is.... The package is enough once you get used to your shoe box and noodles for dinner.... Join the union and when you have enough numbers you can take from those on higher salaries to make up for your poor joining package. After all that's what everyone else is doing. Enjoy your new career!

Dam, where do I sign up. I love them mansions. How much for a whimsical English man servant?

On paper the money in HK is great in reality it is not. In Europe the money on paper is not great but in reality it is.

Why is Hong Kong housing so expensive?

That should answer your housing question

777 more due to constant overtime
Don't get me wrong, absolutely not complaining, but can I join the other 777 fleet where this happens because it doesn't happen to me.
Thread drift?... possibly. But there have been pleas for accuracy.
