They chose Jepp!
I'll be darned, apparently we chose the best (according to our guys I know involved in CMP trials), not to mention the most expensive vendor, Jepp.
The devil will be in the details and in the implementation of course, but for now, this is a step forward.

Ask the EK fellas how Jepp rostering has worked for them. They still have LIDO charts.

DAN B,
The sarcasm was obviously a little to well disguised.
How on earth can the process take three and a half years?
At the rate that this place is gambling away the cash and then asking the customers to pay it back - I'd be surprised if we will need a roster by then. Who are we going to fly around?

It won't help us at all if they use the new system to computerise what the monkeys do now - it will just be a more expensive pineapple insertion machine. Our only hope is if they give Jepp the freedom to implement a modern system which gives some control back to the crew. What are the chances?
Jepp have already flagged up numerous points about manning levels and some of CX's philosophies. So what's the chances of it being "user friendly" - to anyone other than the company do you think ?
Jepp took over three years to be implemented at EK.
The Adopt system was progressively made more restrictive in range of options and bids that it became nearly unworkable.
Then they introduced Jepp to prove the previous system wasn't that bad after all.

My understanding is that this was also the AOA's preferred option. The more expensive of the two shortlisted so thats a good start. EK does have problems with it but thats because when it doesn't give the result EK management want they turn off BAM. That will be a problem in CX also potentially. Need rules to prevent this.
To understand BAM check-out the Boeing website or google it.

I haven't read any better suggestions from you roster geniuses on how to fix the horrible condition of the rostering system.
If you feel you will be abused. Than all the AOA's need to continue to push for 1st world rules. Something we CX people have failed to achieve up to this point.

It's going so well that the full implementation is now heading out to Four Years (!) from the initiation. Any bets as to when it is fully implemented?, and how inefficient it will prove to be.
