How do some of you consider him as 'one of us'?
Either you are junior in the airline and haven't got your facts in order or you are naive.
Re-read aislinn's and Dan Buster's posts - they nailed it.

He is a wolf in sheep`s clothing. Think back to Mariners Club AOA meeting 1999.
Only at CX would a guy be revered for doing his job.

Let me get this straight, 49 line pilots, and several others since then, have been unfairly dismissed, and not a single threat of a walk out or sick out. One sleazy low life manager supposedly gets the boot and some f4ckwits here calling for a sick out...F4ck me i have now seen it all

I have known the gentleman concerned here for something like 27 years and I have enjoyed his friendship and integrity during this time. I log into PPrune from time to time, to see what the latest gossip is, not just here in HKG, but mainly in the other airlines around the world. I have very little respect for those here and elsewhere, who slate and denigrate a person anonymously and are not brave enough to put their own names to a post. I can assure you, that GL would be very happy to discuss anything you are concerned about, face to face over coffee, in order to give you the real facts and truth, other than what some you believe has happened. The same applies for the other folks in management and office positions in Flight Operations. Please go talk to them directly, instead of making anonymous posts here.
I know some of you decry those who have gone into management, however the system wouldn't function without them there, representing us and I would much prefer to have people in there, like GL, instead of some others not as suitable. Over the years I have been considerably helped by GL and others there, whenever I have had a tricky time about something, for various reasons and I have the utmost respect for them and GL in particular. They are very understaffed in the office, considering the number of crew they have in the respective Boeing fleets and when you understand the current situation more, you will appreciate that they don't have an easy task. I know PPRune is a rumour network, but some of you need to be more sure of your facts, before you make some of the statements here, on what you think is going on in Flight Operations and the Company. If you are not brave enough to say something to a person's face, then keep it to yourself.
Best Regards,
Peter Hay

It's far easier posting here under your name defending some of those cretins in management, knowing there will be no repercussions, rather than posting here under your name and criticizing the same people who have known to be spiteful, vindictive, and have the power to fire you? You're smart enouh to know that, so please don't pretend as if you're some sort of an honourable, brave individual. The day I submit my resignation is the day I'll have no trouble signing my real name to my posts. Again, it's not being brave it's being smart.
Still amazes me though at how conveniently you choose to ignore the events of the past two decades. It's no wonder the majority see you as a company orientated pilot. When the day comes where we have escalated industrial action, will you be brave enough to stand shoulder to shoulder with your colleagues? That will be the defining moment, this is not it im afraid.

Well some have posted with their own name.....on the company approved prune....
If you were an AOA member you would know that as the same post was made on the AOA forum.

I've chosen to ignore his posts on the AoA forum for good reason. Don't make assumptions.

Spot on Peter and thank you for saying what you did.
I also think highly of the man and hope this is simply a rumor.
There is always going to be limits on what someone can do and it is my belief he has done whatever he could whenever he could and for that I am grateful.
As far as the stone throwers I'd just ask that you (honestly) put yourself in the same position and ask yourself if you could do any better. Methinks few--if any--could. Falling on your sword over everything and going out in a blaze of glory in the first week doesn't count. We all know how things work here. While I see many far worse that could be in the job I see none better. Would this be true and an indication of things to come, for those willing and able it would be an excellent indicator it's time to look for employment elsewhere.

It's not spot on - did you missed the part wher "Peter Hay" writes that other managers will tell you the truth, obviously this couldn't be further from the truth.
Btw, do you even work for CX???

Really drove home the just reporting culture and always felt he was a good balance between company and the pilots.
You have to realize that it's a tough balancing act, and he's doing it well.
It's in the company's best interest to have him there, and ours as well. A rare occurrence indeed...
As far as Peter's reputation, it just fine, and I am sure better than yours.
