Either way, the article is right. Worsening employer relations, worsening and slashing of pay and conditions of service, worsening of service provided. Employee bonuses and profit sharing constantly decreasing while management bonuses exponentially increase. This bad mix is good for no one in the end, and hopefully will not lead to distractions that might cause an accidents.
Cathay is heading down the same road that so many failed airlines have traveled. The only difference is, here in HKG, Cathay can not rely on bankruptcy protection and government bail-outs.
I don't know why they are trying to emulate the failed business models of North American carriers with terrible employee relations and pillaging from the top. Are they trying to achieve the same level of service and quality? Are they trying to decrease the value of the carrier? The brand is quickly turning into crap. The constant labour disputes and court cases are really tarnishing the image of a once great place to work.
