At this time of year I always get questions about whether we’ll be paying out the discretionary 13th month to eligible staff, and the honest answer is that we haven’t decided yet. One thing I can confirm, however, is that we won’t be making hundreds of people redundant later this month.
But if it is just a rumour why mention it at all??? Also why mention it in the same breath as talking about a 13th month. How is a rumour and 13th month connected in any way at all. It wouldn't be a crap attempt to make people think well at least we all have jobs, lets be thankful for that even if we dont get a 13th month.
Would anyone really think, thank god they are not laying anyone off even if we dont get a bonus? I would quite like to be made redundant, very junior, bottom few hundred. Would get a fair bit of cash, a bit of time off and still get my job back before the 50 or so cadets they are throwing money at at the moment get jobs. That would be pretty sweet. Paid holiday rather than SLS
Who are you referring to ? Who is doing the stirring ??
Another case of the weekly message from the mill owners striking a positive chord with the staff.
What he was basically saying was: "well we made a paper profit directly off the backs of our employees this year, then spent almost as much to drag out several court cases, and now we are not sure if we should pay some of that back.
In addition we may or may not have to lay off staff next time (or this time) instead....
Well it is fairly common knowledge amongst the office staff that the IT department is being purged at the moment and whether you believe it is justified or not, some people will be made redundant from there. The new head is making everyone justify and reapply to keep their jobs. Rumours are that this may go through the entire office staff departments one by one. So perhaps not several hundred Tony, but sounds like there will be a few.
Not to mention numerous staff on contract's, who are currently being "shown the door" as soon as their contract expires. This is probably the cheapest sort of redundancy programme that they can run.
I note also that ISD have opened up unpaid leave once again, to the cabin crew for anything from 2 weeks to the whole of 2010. This is another cheap way of reducing costs without incurring redundancy payouts etc.
The CCD spin about "we are determined to preserve jobs" etc is just to keep the Government happy. Its cheaper and more politically acceptable for them to continue to do what they are doing.
I think IT is going to the mainland, so the permanent staff in that department are playing the musical chairs game. Each time the music stops there is one less chair etc.
5 green, the company's commitment to the Air China venture is 4 bcf's and some dough. That is it.
Any other anti frtr conspiracy theories you have - for you gloat with glee to easily.
freighter commands Ex UK were always undersubscribed, so the DECs were happy to oblige the vacancies.
You cant complain now, despite the major influx of pilots of marginal abilities in the LHS. Through the back door, for sure, but no one really cares, do they?
BCFs to go Air China, no worries as another 13 newbies to arrive in next few yrs.Of course more DECs to eventually arrive from KA mainline, not the previous disfunctiona crowd.
Let me say this slowly.....I am not anti- freighter !
Just institutionalised by years of imposed change.
I am all for keeping ALL the freighters in our barn. Four BCFs and some dough...well I feel much better, cause that would only mean we would need.....120 or so less crew on the 400 (notice I did not say freighter fleet !!)
The only way it is acceptable, is if they are replaced with new 400s the same day. Anything else will amount to subcontracting out the freight division. Granted this may have a lot to do with the growing importance of PVG as a cargo and pax hub, but it marks a very dangerous step for ALL flight crew at the co. It is another thin edge of yet another wedge.
If the co. wants to get further into bed with those boys and gals over there, then great buy them some airplanes. Sort of like they did with Air Hong Kong. Then at least they would not be reducing our flying, commands etc. If we do not have enough business for the airplanes then make it a limited time arrangement and talk to the pilot group about the hows and whys. Otherwise the co.'s actions will be seen as underhanded. This is where the lack of respect for flight crew is clearly displayed, they don't have to tell us why, so they don't !
