CX CPP process and career

hi guys

FWIW, can you someone pls piece together what the standard route for a CPP is for everyone's benefit? I've put together below what I understand it to be:

1. CPP process
- 1st interview (HK - self funded)
- 2nd interview?? (HK - self funded)
- 3rd interview (HK - paid for by CX)
- success (after full medical, interview)
2. You're in!!
- head to HK to start for x number of weeks
- shipped to Adelaide for approx 12 months (all exps paid)
3. SO
- approx 3 years as SO flying on long haul flights
- ground school, etc to get rated on whatever you are selected to fly
4. FO
- approx 6-8 years as FO
6. CAPT
- Promotion to CAPT after passing selection board?

Okay, thats all I have..can you guys pls piece together the parts I've missed, especially what happens between completing the CPP program and SO ie. I'm sure you don't get to do your rating on the B777 (for eg) with only approx 300 hrs - do you do 'industry placement' like Qantas does?

Thanks

there is no industry placement like the one in the QF cadetship - CX cadets are given ratings for their respective aircraft upon graduation.

Here is my revision to your post:

1. CPP process
- 1st interview+testing (HK - self funded)
- english test + medical
- 2nd interview+testing (HK - self funded)
- 3rd interview with management (HK - self funded)
- flight grading in Adelaide (paid for by CX)
- success
2. You're in!!
- shipped to Adelaide for 60 weeks (all exps paid)
3. SO
- continue training company procedures etc in HK
- approx 4 years as SO flying on long haul flights
4. FO
- testing and selection board for promotion to FO?
- approx 8-10 years as FO (JFO->FO->SFO)
6. CAPT
- Promotion to CAPT after passing selection board and testing

*I am no expert, but that is what I believe is more reasonable.

So, they moved the medical test just prior to the Second Stage?

When did that happen?

No real point wasting your/their time if you can't pass the (current) medical.

well i've only just begun my process and it's already different.
according to emails from Cathay to me.

First Interview (sydney) - self funded
Second Interview (HK) - expenses covered.

that's all i've been told so far, and that's all i'm going to worry about.

Same as me. I was told that first stage is self funded in your closest area (myn was FTA at Adelaide). If you pass that then its off to HK (they pay) for the second stage.

^^^ so you got the best deal out of all of us. :P it's just a drive for you, $160 return ticket to Sydney for me...and $2000 return ticket for everybody else it seems. I guess just those who don't live Australia, as Cathay might not have the same involvement NA and Europe.

Seems to work in Europe as well! I have an initial interview in London and my e-mail says that CX will make arrangements for further stages in HK.

Good luck to everyone
