Cathay DEFO hrs requirment

Morning all,

anyone know what hours you need to be invited for a DEFO position with Cathay?

I know what the website says, but is this also true in reality?

Got about 2000 hrs total, of which 1700 hrs jet (737).

Thanks

My impression is that new-hires with around 2000h (or less) jet-time seem to be offered SO slots.... regardless of type. Recent SOs come with experience from 767 / 727 / 737 / 747 and various Airbus types, as well as military fighters and bizzjets.

What is the current "ball park" time frame for promotion from SO to FO if joining with 1500 hrs previous Jet?
Thanks

At the moment, SO's who joined about two years ago are getting assesed.

Expectation is 2 to 3 years, withstanding:

- RA65 (will extend the timeframe)
- 3-man LH (will extend timeframe)
- More DEFO's (will extend timeframe)
- Layoffs (will extend timeframe)
- Expansion at the cost of other airlines cutting back (decrease timeframe..)

So place your bets.....

Latest batch of SO's on upgrade to FO just STARTED course after 2 years and 8 months from DOJ. Which means they should be signed out on the line by 3 years. This timeframe should hold steady for the next few years .....bar any major shifts in CX operations.

Don't let anybody tell you different.
