Final Interviews Canceled for July

Just got an email notifying me that my scheduled interview in HKG has been canceled due to the large number of qualified North American applicants awaiting class dates.

Has anyone else heard anything about this? Anyone else with the same letter?

The letter goes on to state that they will contact me when they are in position to offer me a final intervew.

yeah, it's either that or you're offered the SO position.

I'm sorry to hear that, I hope it still turns out ok for you.

Are you interviewing for SO or FO? I've heard a couple of people have received e-mails delaying or cancelling interviews, but not sure if it's only for DEFO people or SO applicants as well?

When was your initial interview?

some airlines have closed shop or reduced it's fleet in the north americas, so a lot of high timers and type-rated pilots are afloat, good news for hiring airlines, bad news for the other applicants...

yet we just get told internally from the GMA that there is a crew shortage on the freighter and they were about to dry lease out some of the aircraft until Dragon and Oasis crews became available.

Go Figure.

My initial interview was May5th. Sounds like the entire interview schedule is canceled July, not just individual interviews. Has anyone else's class been canceled? This would be the DFO position.

Thanks.

So is the consensus that they are canceling DEFO interviews, or has this been happening to scheduled DESO interviews as well?

Good luck to everyone.

Confirmed

Just spoke with HR last night - no interviews for DEFO until early Sept. I got through to the 2nd round and was expecting an early July slot in HK, but was told it'll probably be early Sept instead. More time to study up I guess!

Congratz on making through the 2nd. I just had a co worker come back from his interview in YVR and was told he could expect to attend the Final interview if successful on Aug 11th. You heard mid September. At least they have a time line.

maybe they are just backed up for some reason in july. I had the first interview on the 7th of may, and just got conformation for my hotel for my second one so who knows why they cancelled some interviews

Standing by for further tasking. I interviewed on the 6th of May and got the following E-Mail:

When we are in a position to confirm a Final Interview date we shall contact you.

Training is very backed up right now. The influx of ex Oasis pilots plus KA guys coming with their freighters all have to be trained first as the largest shortage is currently Captains.
The sky is not falling here as in US, just training is very backed up. The interview / hiring process has always been slow, it is just temporarily slower.
So, keep studying :-)

I had my first interview on May 26th. Found out yesterday that I made it to the 2nd interview. In the first interview they told me to expect a 2nd interview date during the week of August 11th. Yesterday they told expect the end of October or early November. I think they are just backed up. I think the US is the only place where the industry is going in the proverbial crapper. Hence the reason I am ejected out of this mess!
