Aircraft on Order
34 aircraft on firm order.
What will Cathay do with them all? Will these aircraft replace some of the older ones? Or are they all additional airframes? No wonder recruitment is in full swing. I see there are 18 B777300ers included, will they eventually replace the A340?
Cheers

Most will be retained is the guess. CX has a real penchant for nailing freight doors into the side of perfectly serviceable 747-400's. 777's will being to do the work of the older -400's
Some people out there believe that their precious bit of cargo just HAS to arrive the next day. Until they turn up their toes and go out of business ....

The rumour of CX picking up 10 x A346 from the cancelled EK order has been debunked to me and the Airbus pilot body at CX by the CP. It isn’t happening full stop. The current A346’s will be gone by early next year as well. I was told most if not all the A343’s will be gone within five years and some of the older A330’s will be going as well.

Thanks Titan, but I was hoping to hear of more expansion. I guess a new hire starting on the 340's as SO can expect their upgrade onto the 777's? I guess we'll see if CX moves on their options to purchase for expansion?
