RAF Cottesmore Families Day

Evening all,

I spent a very pleasant day outside COT today. The light could've been better, but the flying was good and it was great to see the Harrier four-ship and the Vulcan inparticular.

Cheers,
Karl

VMT for the excellent pictures - every single one!

However, having been caught up with 801 NAS twice in past years, I was particularly taken with the photo of the RNHF's WV908 - a very pretty sight.

So anybody got more info on the near-mishap at Odiham's families day then involving Typhoon? 15ft above the trees after messed up departure and some very burnt grass?

Nice images Karl, especially the final one of 558.

I thought that I read a thread on Odiham, guess it must have been pulled to stop the journos getting invloved.

Thanks all.

Eezyboy - these were all taken on a Canon EOS-40D with a Sigma 120-300mm f2.8 lens, teamed up with a Canon 2x converter.

I think everyone was too busy ducking for cover before, and surveying the carnage after.

Great shots Karl. What's the team in that first shot?

Incidentally, and this is huge thread drift, does anyone have any idea what the 4 biplanes were, or where they were going.. heading south down the A1 (over Biggleswade), 1715 Friday? Not sure if they were heading home from the show..?

Well done, Karl. I particularly like the last shot of XH558.

Al, the team is The Blades. They recently had a change of colour scheme.

The Bi-planes you saw were probably 4 Stearman PT17s led by an ex OC 1 Sqn - if so one of them is owned by "Judge Deed".

Cheers - they looked and sounded sweet. I had just fuelled up and was watching a load of American heavy metal that was cruising to a show when they pottered along overhead. A nice way to end the day.
