Any one out there able to tell me what's wrong with my computer please ?

Basically once the main window is open - on the internet - any extra windows (ie from following a link, or trying to open an e-mail) just appear and then stay empty. The little egg timer goes around and around. This just started suddenly a couple of weeks ago.
ANY advice much appreciated.......:ok:

Is it possible that you have a firewall stopping these windows opening or a popup stopper installed which is blocking them?

White Knight,

Are you using any kind of Popup Blocker software?

With your main window can you open webpages?

Also please list your operating system.

Take Care,

Richard

i had a similar problem with AOL v8. Instead i dont use AOLs interface and use internet Explorer. Seemed to fix it for a while.
Still happens now tho sometimes and after a while after "ctrl-Alt-Del" and end program, i get a Run time automation error message...whas that all about?!!!!!!!!

No, not using any kind of popup blocker - at least as far as I know. Like I say this problem started a couple of weeks back on a PC I've had for 5 years. It's Win '98 and I'm using internet explorer. I can open the main window, but if for example on one of these pprune pages I click on the "profile" link, a secondary window opens, but stays blank, even after many minutes. I'm using a broadband connection as well, and everything has always been very fast.
The only possible cause I can think of was that I installed a TIFF reader from a CD-ROM given to me from a department at work. Will this change anything ??

you may have spyware etc

download spybot to have a look at your PC and clean it up.
