Gulf Air In-flight Chefs

Any one know how the gulf air in-flight chefs are getting on. I would like to know what routes there flying on, what rank they are on the a/c, what pay is like and what their rosters are like. And most important of all, is it a success??? Please let me know if you know anything.

Don't know how they are getting on at Gulf Air, but never one to miss an opportunity, Qatar Airways will shortly start something similar in 2004 on their transatlantic services.

Business centers and stand up relaxation lounges will also feature on the A340-600.

The company will shortly be trawling the market for suitably experienced cabin crew.

to Qatar? you must be a glutton for punishment. sky chefs in gf flying to lhr,ffm,paris, singapore and a few others. doing ok and enjoying life as far as i know. i could compare a life in qatar to smashing myself in the head with a brick on a daily basis.

You and others are talking about how management are destroying QR. Aren't you and those others doing the same thing by getting out confidential information such as future destinations and products?

People here have a right to discuss Qatar Airways and others but please try to keep confidential information...confidential. Especially if it relates to future plans. I am sure you are aware of a certain "big brother" who has used this information time and time again against QR.

To correct your information the A346 is coming online in 2006.

Sounds great.
That idea was from the Manager that came from Ansett, wasn't it?
They won a couple of medals for the service it gave, so could be on the right track there.

Heard a rumour that one of the GF cookery boys from down under refused to serve a captain in the cockpit because he was smoking and promptly got his jotters.

The Chef in question was a complete 'Dick'. His sacking is all of his own making. The anti-flight deck aspect was just the last of a long line of tantrums. Finally he met his match and was on his way. There can be only one boss on the aircraft, as this guy just found out. On the upside, all the chefs I have flown with have been excellent without exception. I understand the 'Dick' is now trying to deflect the real issue by making some spurious allegations of smoking on the flight deck. get a life.

Do grow up. Try addressing the real issue not some childish justification for a rightly sacked brat. The man got what he deserved, for his sake he will learn from it, throw out his dummy and move on.

You may be correct about CRM, a skill which the 'Dick' singularly failed to develope and use. Lets get on with the job and avoid any inherited whining from down under between Flight Deck and Crew. Its not welcome here. Leave it where you found it or take it home. PERMANENTLY.

Bagshaw. i don't know how long you've been here in the middle east, but smoking amongst the flight deck, although discouraged, is not a serious offence. a junior crew member telling female crew members that he is refusing to enter the flight deck and he will report him to the fleet office when that captain is a senior trainer of local origin is a bit too much for any flight deck fraternity to accept. if we were to fly together and you reported anything that was a slight divergence i would expect the company to back me up in the same way. also i know quite a few guys of many different nationalities who always smoke on the flight deck. i don't like it as a non smoker but i wouldn't say that they are undisciplined just because they smoke. its a way of life here and i would rather they smoked and were not a wreck after a long flight and then attempt an approach into ktm in the monsoon. your posts is frankly a little offensive. i'm sure some of these guys may be better than you but as this is a forum and not a sim we'll never know.

and is ther a state law against smoking on the flight deck? i'm not so sure about that one.

don't get me wrong. i believe smoking to be unproffessional especially when the cabin crew can't. i don't condone it by any means. just be careful how and who you decide to report, and don't use it as springboard to criticise their flying ability.
