Does anyone have any details about which airlines use FJR, where they fly from/to, and whether there are any additions planned for this year?
One site has the following, but I guess most of these are cargo carriers:
Airlines Serving Airport: AVIAPRAD, AZS, Air Hong Kong, Air Star Airlines, Air Transport Intīl, Aram Air, Atlant-Soyuz, Atlas Air, Cathay Pacific, Centrafrican Airlines, DTA Airlines, Dobrolet Airlines, Dragonair, Egyptair, Emirates, Evergreen Intīl, GST Aero, Gulf Air, Indian Airlines, MK Airlines, Moldtransavia, Payam Air, Polar Air Cargo, Qeshm Air, Russ Airlines, Turkmenistan, Tyumen, Uzbekistan Airways
Can I get a direct flight from anywhere in Europe?
Thanks

Gulf Air used to operate into FJR - Iīd be surprised if they still donīt. FJR is a bit like Sharjah - lotīs of Russian freighters & not a lot else. Thereīs always something interesting on the ramp. Always been a US military presence there as well.
Itīs tucked into the hills; only instrument approach is from the sea; youīd need to have big goonies to shoot an approach the other way.
Sorry, donīt have a list of operators.

The only scheduled fliight operating to Fujairah from anywhere is the weekly Indian Airlines A320 operating on Tuesdays from Madras (MAA), South India . The flight operates from Madras to Fujairiah via Tircuhirappally (TRZ) and Calicut (CCJ) , both in South India and continues to Kuwait from FJR. The flight returns the same way back on Wednesday morning. Ubfortunately there are no traffic rights for Indian Airlines on the Kuwait Fujairah sectors and hence the only way out is to connect at Madras India. However I will not recommend it unless you are a person who is the type who enjoys taking a sight seeing tour of various Indian Airports from inside an aircraft (they dont let u out at transit hops and the halts are too brief anyway) or enjoy airline food (you will have a minimum three food service - one for each hop- better than US domestic flights I guess, but Indian Airlines cuisine will not get any awards either!). Plus a 6 1/2 hour flight without even audio entertainment, forget IFE, will only make it a flight for you to remember for the wrong reasons!
Better drive down from AUH or DXB (or which ever of the other emirates is nearer).

Thanks rsoman,
I understood that there were links from Muscat, Abu Dhabi, Doha and Bahrain in the past. Guess these must have proved unsustainable. Certainly the decline in traffic figures would seem to support this, these have gone down from 200k in 1994 to 40k in 2001!
Now that the "new" East Coast Meridien is open, it would be good to get a direct service going, since the East Coast is much more interesting, both landscape and sea-life.
