Guys & Girls,
I'm wanting some advice on where to start with getting qualified upon a Biz Jet and building a career within the Biz Jet world as Flight crew.

1 )Do you first have to stick your hand in your pocket and fork out for your own type rating. If so what types would you recommend.

2)Is it generally the case that you work upon Seneca's, King Airs, Bandits before getting the opportunity to progress to Citations and Gulfstreams (and the like) ?

3) What are the pay and conditions like.

4) Ideally would like to work for some of the South East England operators, so to those of you looking at this question, do you mind fresh faced frozen atpl'rs knocking on the door.

5) Once you have a type on your licence, how would you go about selling your services freelancing ?

6) Ideally like to chat with some biz jet pilots/operators and work out a strategy for the nxt couple of years, so if there is an opportunity, would like to spend a day/few hours to see how an operation works.

Qualified with frzn atpl, 265 total, 55 hrs multi, mcc/crm.

Thanks folks

erm.. lets see here:
1. No, not unless somebody offers you a job(guarenteed job that is..) So, in principle, no..
2.Generally yes, unless you are really lucky and get to know the right people
3. Anywhere from scammers getting YOU to pay for right hand seat time to 150,000$ a year for corporate flight department mangers. Conditions are from flying 4 times a year to being at somebodys beck-and-call 24hrs a day to cranking out 90hours a month flying
4. If you show up at the door enough times, you will either be given the chance or told to b*gger off..be smart and hang around king air/etc. operators as there you have a better chance to fly the RHS
5. it takes time and experience to establish a name for yourself in freelance. Try transatlantic ferry flying to get in the game..
6Networking/ass-kissing/ getting to know folks/ get a ramp/fueling job at your local FBO so people get to know you(especially base customers, as they at times need somebody to fly their airplanes around for maintainace etc..)

Basically goldfinger, stick with it, its tough to get started in bizjets as these jobs are never advertised(a friend of a friend of ..etc..)

Also, don't restrict yourself to geographical areas, see the entire world as your field of play.
