Hi everyone , kinda going out on a limb here to all the biz jet pilots out there as to whether u can give me an insight into the following....

1.What is NBAA IFR range ?

2.How does one calculate the above with varying conditions of fuel flow at different altitudes and speeds , not taking into account the climb phase of flight ?

3.With regards to the range how are business jet classified as short or long range , as in what is the defining range factor and what are the reserves calculated into this range ?

4.Anything else u can add to the above will be much appreciated .

Regarding NBAA IFR range, this is my best recollection. I am sure someone will correct any errors:

1. Fly to destination
2. Miss the approach
3. Fly 100 nm to alternate
4. Have sufficient fuel to fly for another 45 minutes

I recently asked the NBAA the same question, and they e-mailed me 3 pdf files of the forms they use for both jets and turboprops.

If you wish I can e-mail copies on to you, they total about 50KB.
