Qatar seeks assistance from Houston airport authority in developing Doha airport. From the "Peninsula"(4/11):
"In a first-of-its-kind move, Doha International Airport yesterday entered into a cooperation agreement with the Houston Airport Systems for the exchange of expertise in airport management.
The agreement was singed by Abdul Aziz Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Qatar’s Civil Aviation Authority and Hoyt L Brown, Deputy Director, Houston Airport System, in the presence of the Mayor of Houston, Lee P Brown, and US Ambassador to Qatar, Maureen Quinn.
Mayor Brown was leading a 20-member trade mission which was on its last stop here after having visited Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Saudi Arabia.
Abdul Aziz told reporters after the signing ceremony that the agreement has nothing to do with air transport. It seeks to open a formal channel of discussion between the two airport authorities to cooperate for mutual benefit. The cooperation could be in terms of training staff and exchange technical and administrative know-how in the management of airports."
