Can anyone confirm or deny a rumour that Gulf Air has made approaches to several prominent Qatar Airways staff to take up senior and general roles within Gulf Air?

I don't wish to cause alarm to those Qatar Air fanatics amongst you, but I have also had it mentioned to me that one or two of the regular contributors to this forum, and whom are exceedingly passionate Qatari supporters, may also be heading shortly across the straits to Bahrain.....shall we shortly be reading posts from A340Man?????? Or perhaps MTBahrain?

Just speculation, but worth some investigation, I think.

Secondly, I have also been told that GF will shortly commence a complete overhaul of the A320 fleet, by removing First Class seats and introducing a new "regional" streamlined Business Class only.

Anyone flown yet with GF with the new chef service onboard on F class services to LHR and FRA? What's it like?

As far as I know, it is the other way around. Many of GF managers left to go to QR esp. when it first started. As for the chefs, I think the service starts on Sep. 6.

Hi Palma,

I heard the same thing through a friend of mine who works in QR. But, there is a lot of concern that GF may just vanish soon.......if the State owners decide that enough is enough.

So I would be surprised if many leave to go to GF.

When I first joined the company here, QR was a nice small airline (pre Albakerr) and was nice to work for i heard. Now its the most dreaded amongst all the Gulf airlines. Gulf Air still has a better name and condistions despite their recent troubles.

Regarding A300Man moving to Bahrain - never. I know him well and they would never let him in!!!! (only joking. i don't actually know)

Thanks for your vote of confidence Dan Air!!! Why wouldn't they let me into BAH? I have been there twice this week already and there were no adverse comments. Ha!

Thanks too Palma for starting the rumour here.......not one bit of it true, I have to say (in my personal circumstances).

Additionally, I am only aware of one QR senior manager who was approached by GF to take up a position there. However, the gentlemen (Commercial Manager) elected to leave the Middle East altogether and return to his own business roots in the UK. (No prizes for guessing who that was.) He is no longer with QR either.

No others that I know of.
