This is probably quite simple, but anyway

I have two laptops, one running Windows 2000, one running Windows XP Home. They both have internal network cards. I have a network cable, as I use one on an network. At home, I just want to file share between the two. I don't really want to buy any new cables/software as it should be possible with what i have. I tried all the options I could see, on both ones, but to no sucess. I followed all the relevant wizards. The nearest one, Home networking in XP, insisted I install some software on my other computer. I tried that, butit then said the software was not supported for W2k????

Anyone got any ideas how to do it?

You need a cross over cable instead of a straight cable that you have..........
