... well, that's not that difficult if you create one to a file . How do you create one to a directory?

Directory = folder ?
If not then please ignore......
In Windows Explorer right click on the folder, click Create Shortcut. Will appear in the parent folder, so then move it to the desktop.

Another interesting fact about shortcuts is that by manipulating the registry you can change the way they look. Download

and have yourself a ball :cool:

Both for folders and files, you can even create the shortcut directly on the desktop by clicking on the file or folder with the right mouse button and dragging it to the desktop. A popup menu appears, select 'create shortcup here" (or something like that, I have a french version of fenêtres). Obviously this works only if the desktop is visible, i.e. when Windows Explorer is not in full screen mode.
