View Full Version : Immoderate Moderation

The topic on CX Freighters out of JFK is particularly interesting at the moment, CX management having managed yet again to have the right people, (CX freighter crews) based in the wrong place, (London). At present CX is trying to move the base from LHR to NYC with no compensatory payments etc. For a forum with so little traffic the immoderate moderation of CR2 and Hogg yet again stymie free speech. Just cause you've got a big stick girls, it doesn't mean you have to use it........

OO
Could be due to inexperience types acting as moderators me thinks
This is just an observation
OO,
There is no free speech on Pprune, read the rules and regulations that you agreed to when you signed up.
A link to this scab list was also shown in
http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?=&threadid=57746
and handled quite nicely by BlueEagle who stated To make things absolutely clear, the rules of PPRuNe state that, there shall be, "No reference to, Links to or details of" scab lists.
I certainly don’t blame two European guys from making sure that the topic stays in the Fragrant Harbour forum where someone who knows the history of the topic and the posters moderates it.
Mutt.
Is it a random thing or is every one getting the AOA (CX pilot union) Ban Ad. in the banner at top of screen?
Mutt I couldn't have put that better myself.
OO Now then I see you signed up last month. I hope you read what you signed up for.
Now, the subject matter was CX Cargo in JFK. Fair enough, a valid thread for Freight Dogs. I personally would have asked the question on Fragrant Harbour, because I think I'd have more joy there than here.
So what happened? No answers from anyone to the question. The thread was hijacked by the scab-link poster, who by the way has been banned. I feel that is justification enough to close the thread.
It may be also noted that this Moderator started Freight Dogs with freight in mind. Not scab-lists, invective, slagging off etc. I think we've done well so far. There is little in the way that Hogg and I have to get involved with in running this forum; a little cleaning & re-directing here and there. Umpiring p*ssing contests is thankfully something that doesn't happen over here. Thanks to all the contributors who have made this successfull. Keep it going.
Best regards

It was indeed good to get a link to the scab list on PPRuNe.
Always carried one when I flew left seat and had control of the jumpseat.
Had no idea it was againts PPRuNe rules to publish the list...!
Where does that say, and why?
Here is what Blue Eagle had to say on the matter. Hope it is clear.
As I have already pointed out, PPRuNe is not the place to publish a 'scab' list, if you don't like that then you have the option to leave PPRuNe, it is up to you. To make things absolutely clear, the rules of PPRuNe state that, there shall be, "No reference to, Links to or details of" scab lists.
Ok?
Well Guys, we only try to keep a balanced view on things posted here, at the end of the day YOU are personally responsible for what you post.
Either supply us with your real name, address etc etc or you can put up with our "immoderate Moderation"
89 is like 13 years ago
If you dont like it, go start your own site.

Who is "Blue Eagle"?
Always thought Danny made the rules..?
Blue Eagle is a moderator on another Forum. Danny does make the rules, and thats one of them. I copied/pasted his reply to a similar thread 'coz I was too lazy to type it out again.

witch forum? huh? wow aren't we defensive....:D :p :p :p :p :p
so where IS the scablist, and why do we advertise that ridiculous recruitment ban?
Defensive? I can't for the life of me see how my last post was defensive. Short, sweet & to the point, yes... I thought it answered TowerDog's question.
The scablist has been deleted. Next time it appears, will be deleted etc etc

Hmm, wonder why the scablist is a big no-no on PPRuNe?
Is it just a liability thingy, or more of a personal issue?
(Not trying to stir up muck here mr. rat, just honest curiosity as scabing and such is a big deal out here in the dog-eat-dog world of unions and contracts and Lorenzo's and horses arse's and such.)

Tower Dog - I am butting in here as I am involved and it is now nearly 2:00am in Europe when everyone, (except freighter types!) should be in bed.
If you go to Fragrant Harbour forum you will see I have posted a 'sticky' at the top entitled "Those 'Lists' Again!!!" which should answer your questions.
ENGINEER, which part of 'No reference to, Links to or details of' is it that you don't understand? There is no argument, you have done this as a deliberate act of defiance, despite the rules of the BB.
Thanks Blue Eagle. Can confirm I was fast asleep when you posted (indeed 2am here). I've nicked your post concerning scab lists which I've stickied on FD too. Hope you don't mind.....

Time to lay off guys and girls. The reason we don't put links to scab lists on here is because it always ends up in a p!ssing contest that goes nowhere. Unfortunately there are too many pilots out there that are unable to figure out that not everyone will agree with your point of view or version of historical events and no matter how much you write and how forcefully you try to put it both sides will always disagree.
If I let discussion about scab lists or 89 or whatever to be repeated ad nauseum all we would have is a thread that has the same argument going round and round and round and round... with both sides getting angrier and angrier, piling insult upon insult and to be honest most people who may have had a valid opinion just don't bother. They have been done to death on here and for the minority of pilots who still feel the need to p!ss higher than everyone else on a subject that has done the rounds and never gets solved all I can suggest is find a mailing list or website that caters to the kind of mayhem that ensues when the two sides are allowed to flame away, unmoderated.
You signed up to a moderated bulletin board and therefore you abide by the rules. If a discussion starts about any dispute and stays reasonably intertesting without the usual infantile threats and counter threats then it stays otherwise it is closed or even removed. Anyone who wants to try and circumvent the rules by posting links to scab lists or anything else that may be out of date and contain errors but names individuals then be prepared to have your work removed or edited.
As for the AOA advertising on PPRuNe, why not. They have paid for their advert just like everyone else and it is thanks to the moneys received from the advertisers that you all have this website to try and outp!ss eachother on!
Anyone not happy with a moderators actions is free to email
[email protected] and your complaint will be investigated but if any of you try to undermine them in the open on here when they have a difficult enough job to do looking after this in their spare time then you will have me to deal with and I am not known for my benevolence!:p

(Uh-oh boys, we are in deep doo-doo now, better run for cover...:D )
Yes Sir, Capt Danny, as always Sir, it makes sense when ya say it like that....;)
I'm going to leave this thread open for a while. I will accept any constructive criticism of my moderating style.
<ducks> :D
