Arrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhh

I recently upgraded to IE6.0, on a win98 platform and up until a few weeks ago it was running fine - I have now run into the following problem and cannot find a solution. Perhaps someone has had a similar situation and sorted this out.
I used to be able to select Internet Explorer and it would automatically dial my default internet connection. Now it will not do that and each time I look in the options I find the "Never Dial a Connection" button has been selected.
Each time I exit IE6.0 and then restart it (even without shutting windows down) it presents the same problem.
I have tried reinstalling IE6.0, with and without Outlook Express.
Is there a solution to this????
