Hi! I wonder if anyone can help. The past couple of times I have browsed into this forum my puter speakers have "broadcast" a split second of a noisy sound file .. I can't recognise what it is...something like a voices/shouting? I have nothing running that could cause this!
Can anyone help explain this please?
PS I just went to JetBlast and the same thing happened!

Nothing wrong with your computer. It's another stupid sound file associated with a horse racing advert at the foot of the page. Not that anyone ever bothers with these adverts......................

BEagle thank you! I was worried that somehow a virus was infecting the puter despite virus protection!!

Find your browser's internet options (under Tools in IE). Select the advanced tab and scroll down. Uncheck the Play Sounds box. There's nothing on anyone's site, banner or ad that I want to hear without being asked, thank you.
You might want to uncheck the animations as well, I don't need THEM either.

broken thing - big discussion thread about this here a while back when it last happened! Had us all updating our virus database every 10 minutes 'just in case'. We threatened to ram a car into Danny's house if he didn't stop it:rolleyes:
Corresponded with me this time with an attempt by a site to stick 'Gator' on my machine. THOUGHT I had said 'no', and then I started hearing these galloping hooves.........................
Not long after that the men in white coats came to the door........... I blame it ALL on Fyne!

I had it too. Though I'd wait a bit and check I wasn't going mad before asking.

Jesus f@#$%^& christ! I've just spent an entire evening trying to track down what this f***ing sound was.
Searched & sampled every single sound on my machine to try & track the f***ing thing down. With no joy, of course.
I was beginning to think my PC was infected.
I certainly don't appreciate unasked for noises from f***ing ads! Annoying & intrusive ads like that are a guaranteed way of causing me to NEVER use that company's services or products.

As of 1830z I have (hopefully) disabled the ad with the sound. I am as angry as the rest by these intrusive ads which have not been agreed to by me. Banners are a way of life if you want to keep PPRuNe free but I have always insisted that there are no pop-ups and now I have requested that they do not include any ads with sound files.

Try again Danny. The Sony Viaio advert does it too. Although only if you accidentally pass your cursor over it.

The bloody Sony ad doesn't just make that sound when the cursor crosses it. It also kicks off during page loading - even when the cursor is nowhere near the ad location.
Guess who WON'T be buying anything Sony from now on...?
These companies must be aware that annoying potential customers isn't likely to turn them into actual customers? Surely they know that few people like their pop-ups or intrusive sounds???

Any one know a way of disabling the ads in this forum?
