Hello to all. For the guys who work for ASL, the Cathay cargo carrier based stateside. Can you all shed a little light on your current pay, schedules and vacation and things like that. I think the bases are JFK, ORD, LAX, ANC. Is it conceivable to hold a JFK base right from new hire or is it off to ANC initially for every one. Also, how many average days off a month do you have. I heard the guarantee is 7 days off a month with 42 days of vacation. Do you acrue seniority with Cathay Pacific as a whole or just ASL. Please if any one can respond, I am eager and interested in seeing how your lifestyles differ from the guys who work out of HKG. Thank you in advance to anyone who replies.

As far as I am aware, ASL do no longer have any recruitment. All pilots are recruited by Cathay. You join the Cathay seniority list, and either fly for Air Hong Kong(which is 100% owned by Cathay) or Cathay Cargo.
All ASL pilots were given the option in late '99 to either stay with ASL or join the Cathay seniority list. Most joined Cathay.

US BASES ARE: Anchorage, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York,
First Officers get 42 days annual leave. I am not sure about GDO's, but I think it is 7 or 8 per month.

Thanks dazed. That answers most of my questions. But I would still like to know how many days on average do they go out for per month. I know the guaranteed days off are 7, but how many days off are these guys averaging off per month. Also, if your in HKG for lets say 38 hours, does that 24 hour block count as a day off or not. Just curious. Any info please

As far as I have been told, the average is 7-10 days away, and then roughly the same off. Sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less. Depends on whether you have recurrent in HK, etc.
