I think it starts at 2220 but worth checking...

For those that haven't seen it, spoof reporter Roy Mallard follows certain professions..this week it's an airline pilot!!!

Very Funny, original 'fly on the wall' comedy.

Enjoy!

Loved the series when it came over here to Aus last year, especially the photographer from Winchester!

Is it available to buy on video over there? Would love to get hold of this pilot one, and all the others.

Just checked BBC and nothing released yet on video/DVD; however comedy releases are usually slow; they like to get at least 1 repeat before selling them :)

A tremendous piece of satire, rather like a "fly-on-the-wall" version of Airplane, in which it seemed that the producers failed to miss a single glaring error perpetrated ad nauseam by the usual "serious" aviation documentary makers. They managed to capture all the classic edit-boobs, such as the frequent change of aircraft type, whilst doing a great job on character stereotypes, including the "reporter" (the "Clarkson Spin" seems to spring to mind here).

As with other People like Us programmes, some of the subtleties would be best appreciated by those who work in the subject field. I hope the team have not yet run out of topics, but if they have, could they not be employed by the producers of the cringeingly flawed documentaries that frequent our TV screens, to present a few that are factually accurate?

On second thoughts, stick to the format chaps, we all need a good laugh.

Does anyone know if/when its repeated?

I thought it was terrific. The constant change of aircraft type, pixelating aircraft tail logos - and not bothering with the company name, engines not started but the nose going around the horizon, it was endless good fun.

But the bit that had me in hysterics, was when "on the approach" the Captain was giving the "reporter" a real ear wigging never once looking ahead - and the runway didn't get any closer! Sims are great aren't they!

Brilliant TV. Do hope they repeat it. I am certain I missed some gems. Very funny.

Did anyone record it? Unfortunately I flaked out long before it was aired and forgot to set the video! http://www.pprune.org/images/puppy_dog_eyes.gif

Danny,

I caught all but the first couple of minutes on video, let me know if you want to borrow it.

The original Radio 4 series of 'PLU' is now out on cassette. Many of the TV shows are basically video versions of the radio series. Well worth getting, actually funnier than the TV series a lot of the time in my opinion, and certainly cheers you up when you're stuck on the M25.

You mean you did not see the plance flying backwards - great piece of comedy - I thought all you pilots were like that :)

No! Only John Farley. He could fly backwards AND sideways too! :)

Danny,

I recorded all of it, as well as "Speed" (Jeremy Clarkson) beforehand, which had an interesting item in an Airbus...

My reception wasn't very good but I can bung it in your dropfile if you wish...
