by filling out an orange coloured form + stamped/signed by Customs, the refueller etc it should be possible to get AVGAS at a much reduced rate (for commercial flights at least). Recently this has been refused a few times. Does this facility still exist? What are the criteria to get this rebate?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

As a comm.operator you have a letter of competency. A copy forwarded to the refueler should to the trick.
But if they donīt have the permission to sell fuel without tax (Lot of small airfields donīt have it) youīll have to write to german customs to get a refund.

Had to refuel in Nuremberg about two weeks ago. The (friendly) customs asked to see a copy of our AOC so we would not have to pay the tax on fuel. Shame we haven't got one.

Airking, thnx 4 yr reply. We carry copies of our AOC for this very purpose, but it doesn't make any difference - there seems to be no common reason for the refusal. Do you know of any German operators or organisations who could shed any light on this?? Thanks once again.

It may have changed since I last did a commercial GA flight but I was told that the form you described was a temporary form for infrequent operators into Germany. If you did regular flights into the same airfield you were supposed to get some form of permanent exemption. I don't know what that entailed as we never got one, but I did hear rumours of some regular operators being refused their cheap AVGAS due to too many visits.

I believe the Tax you refer to is the Mineral Oil Tax which is very punitive in Germany.

AOC holders only may apply for an exemption certificate (Abwicklungschein) either on a one off basis or, if a regular visitor, on a 3/6 monthly basis.

Your handling agent at the airfield SHOULD be able to assist in completing the paperwork for either case (I recall from years ago it's a bit of a minefield!)

If you're really lucky (Munich springs to mind) the customs police will stamp a one off certificate on the spot if you produce your AOC and Insurance docs.
