Good headset for 737-300 flightdeck??

I have just joined a company who do not provide either individual headsets or cleaning equipment so have decided to buy my own and avoid some of the bugs that live in these things! I've used Sennheiser lightweights for years but have not found a supplier- I'm also interested in suggestions of alternatives? These old 737-3's are getting noisy so would be interested in any comments on open type ANR headsets?? As my colleages are loath to use intercoms I need an open type so I can hear the criticisms from the RHS! Info on suppliers in the UK as well please?

Hayward and Green (01273 492237) have a load of headsets in stock.(and also v helpful fixing them.)
I have a lightweight Telex, but am seriously considering a noise cancelling HMEC 25 (Sennheiser). Lots of dosh, but you can rotate the earpieces so that one is off your ear. It certainly seems a nice bit of kit but I haven't used one in anger yet ! I'd be interested to know what anyone else thinks

I´ve got Sennheisers... Worked good in 737 and work as well in the 727. Like how they are made and how they fit.

I work in audio for the BBC. Our Guys like to use Sennheiser HD25-1's. This headset has enclosed earpieces and integeral mic boom. We get them from Canford Audio and they will also wire them up to the required plug/s for you at a small extra cost.

Thanks all of you for your reponses. So far I haven't found a supplier for the lightweight Sennheiser that many airlines use.
OxPax- a covered ear type is no good on the 737 as most FO's don't want to use the intercom.

Why is it that this most useful system is so universally ignored? I cant understand it, there must be thousands of calls missed each year in noisy flightdecks because of refusal to use a systen designed to prevent it.

I agree-- I quite like to use intercom-- always did on the 146 even though it was actually quieter than the 737- but few airlines use it on the 737 for reasons I am not sure of! Not worth a BIG ISSUE on the FD though-- (unless my hearing fails seriously)

I have 14,000 hours in 737's for SWA. I use the Sennheiser Hmec-45.
They are the best I have ever used for the money.
Try before you buy. Alot of our guys use the Hmec-25, I again prefer the 45's.
