WIth the upcoming buy-out, and merger of pilot's seniority lists, somebody is likely to get hurt!
Junior flight crew members from all 3 carriers may face a year or two on the streets if the lists are being merged by "Date of Hire".
(Furlough being worst case scenario)
AA bought Reno Air recently and both pilot groups faced a similar situation, yet on a smaller scale.
Does anybody remember details on the agreement?
Also Flying Tigers and Fed-Ex pilots have some experience on the subject.
Comments/recommedations?
Any ex Pan-Am guys out there with long memories?
TWA/Ozark?
Please speak up, I am very interested as I am
the bottom guy on AA's seniority list. :)

No, T.D. , I think you'll be ok. From what I heard (as rumour, but based on Capt. K's hotline ) in the schoolhouse today, we'll be even MORE short-handed than we were. Something like 30 a/c over projected manning levels.
Let's hope so....the APA will take a dim view of furloughs to take over a bankrupt airline. "Who's pilots helped make the money that's powering this deal, anyway?" was another view I heard....
Should be some kind of fence for a while, anyway, so you should be ok.

Strict seniority integration? I don't think so. TWA was a couple steps from unemployment line, and US Air not far behind. There's got to be a way to do it reasonably, but screwing American guy already on the list isn't it. These things are always ugly, but I hope the TWA guys will be happy to have a job at much higher pay working for a profitable company, and not let their head swell too much.
This is not a merger of equals, ladies and gentlemen.

The answer is always in the fences. Staple job plus fences. You can stay in your position on the fleet/base you came from, but once you exercize the right to an aircraft/base that TWA didn't bring to the table then your seniority is merger date. The fence can be 30 years high, who cares, TWA keeps their 717s and American keeps their 777s.
The only proviso is that the TWA pilots must be paid the higher american payscales IMMEDIATELY. There will be no more B scales at American...
That way your career expectations are not damaged, once a 717 captain, always a 717 captain, till they bid off it, then seniority rules...

Enjoyed meeting with ya in Dallas.
Yes, I can see now that the junior AA guys won't be hurting if all the big deals actually happens.
