Tunny, I can't get into the thread you started but Rob told me on chat last night that you were wondering if you have been banned. Story is as follows, and I'm sure someone will correct me if I got it wrong.

CrashDive came on chat last night and told us that he has banned all registration of new ppruners with either a Hotmail or a Yahoo e-mail address. This ban affects chat in such a way that if your username is already coupled to either of the above sites, you can not get into the chatroom now.

If you register for pprune mail, you can. Not sure if you can transfer your old username to the new addy, but I believe so. If not, get a new similar 1 so we'll still recognize you! :)

PS: Reason for the ban acc. to CrashDive is the fact that most of the abuse of fellow ppruners on the forums  plus the posting of defamatory stuff that might lead to lawsuits and other unpleasantness is done by people hiding behind either Hotmail or Yahoo addies.

Hope this helps

OK Tunny; just changed my old user name over to the new pprune addy, and it seems to work. :)

Now if someone could just tell me how on earth it is possible that I can not get into my old Hotmail's anymore since CrashDive changed the system here on pprune I'd be real pleased!!
Logic says that the one thing has nothing whatsoever to do with the other, and I know that other people can still access my Hotmail, (Thanks Red!!) but still it's a fact. Since CrashDive changed things yesterday, I'm banned from my own Hotmail addies! http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/frown.gif http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/frown.gif

Flaps, let me be very clear on this - and as I told you last night in 'Chat' - there's nothing that I might have done here at PPRuNe HQ that would have influenced your ability to access your Hotmail email.
Thus I'm afraid to say that if you're having problems in this respect then it's been either self-induced or something Hotmail themselves have done !

W.r.t. to a ban on Hotmail and Yahoo addresses, yes there was a temporary withdrawal of these (primarily aimed at new - fake - registrations on PPRuNe; there's been some serious defamation going on, and it needed to be stopped), with the intent that normal service for those who currently have use the email forwarders should have be maintained (which it was).

However I do owe an apology to those 'Chatters' who might have been unable to gain access to it yesterday; Unfortunately I was not aware that my ban of these email providers would effect your use of that (chat) service.

No apology needed Crash - glad to see that you guys are trying to get rid of the twats.

Just my usual paranoid self kicking in..... tried to log on on Sat and thought "Oh bother - did i go on last night when i got home from the pub???"

Major panic stations!!!

Anyways thanks again

CrsahDive you were very clear the first time you told me this on chat, and I understood it.
I also understood it the second time you told me.
And now that you tell me the same thing a third time; I still understand.

Which still leaves me with an uncanny coincidence Crash, see above. I did not change any of the settings on my pc, and the trouble started at exactly the time things were changed around here on pprune with me in chat.
CrashDive, I might not be a computer whizz, but I'm not a blithering idiot either. And I would appreciate a bit less condescension from you.

As I say in my first post, I understand the rerasons for your work on this issue, and more power to you for it. Like Tunny and many others, I dislike the abuse that sometimes goes on.
Like many other ppruners I do appreciate all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes to keep this place running orderly.

What I don't understand is why you have to talk down to me.
