Leaving Heathrow last evening(26/7)and stopped to get petrol at the BP station going west on A4 just to west of M25.

Approached by young lady, who spun me a sob story involving argument with boyfriend who had driven off with her hand-bag, and she had no money to get back to Coventry. Couldn't get hold of her family, and police not interested. Would I give her the money for the petrol, and she would send it back by post!!

Story didn't ring quite true, just a little too "prepared". Also, no sign of tears. Felt bad, but declined her offer. She then drove away in a battered Metro.

Went to pay for my petrol, and cashier asked whether I had been approached for money. He said that this person visited at least once per week on similar mission.

Be warned!

Boyfriend helped her out really. Why would you willingly return to Coventry? ;)
