Anyone else had a similar experience with this lot?
Took half a dozen phone calls to arrange a
date for the interview. Person concerned was
not apparently even involved in the initial selection proceedure.
A colleague reported the same, plus at the
interview was told only EGSS available. (Flight ad said EGPH available.) When he expressed surprise interviewer asked why he
hadn't bothered to check! What, as in "O.K.
great I'll come along, and is there anything
you havn't been telling me?" They then admitted that the ad was "slightly misleading". He was expected to relocate to
EGSS and wait for EGPH base if/as and when,
then re-relocate. Ha ha ha ha ha !
62 Grand plus 10-12 duty/sector pay is a fair
whack by any standards but wait on; considering the expected workload (up to legal max in most cases)and compared to ours
and others current 5-600 hrs it's suddenly not so rosy. The extra work comes out at about £20/hr after tax. Well I've done my time on those sort of rates. (loved every
minute of it, I shold add, but 10 years and
30 grand later...) Also no payment for worked
days off.
It goes into the box marked "avoid", I'm
afraid. Barking.
Whew, well that was a close shave. Nearly ended up with a tosser like you working for us. ;)
I should think nowwhat is thinking the same thing about you.

Nowhat, well ( and as ADC says ) just coz it mightn't suit you perhaps you'd be best off sticking where you are, i.e. and more pertinantly, "don't knock it till you've tried it ?!"
.....typed Puritan, whilst actually thinking 'jeez what a looser'.... and it was with some relief that he contemplated the fact that with an atittude / point of view, as expressed above, he / she (nowhat) would never have got through the selection process with Storm in any case..... i.e 'there is a god !' ;)
Seems to me nowwhat has merely expressed some facts he/she's heard about Go and the selection process, and some fairly reasonable sounding opinions (eg not getting paid for worked days off??!).
However, I didn't get through Storm's selection procedure either, so maybe there's some validity to Puritan's comments.
Whatever, I'm beginning to come to the conclusion that maybe it was a good thing I got binned...

Quick question ADC-
Do you send cv's direct to Storm or to GO and they forward on the ones they like.
Can I have a name please (and title)for either?

HF that's about how it works....
If you're applying just for Go then you can send a CV to:
Alison Milborrow (Flight Ops Administrator)
Go Fly Ltd
Enterprise House
Stansted Airport
Essex
CM24 1SB
Alternatively, send the same to Storm Aviation with a cover-letter saying that you're looking for a job with Go, or even perhaps a job with any airline - Nb. Storm don't recruit soley for Go !
Click here to visit the advert which Storm have running on PPRune (http://www.pprune.org/stormaviation/storm.htm)
Ps. MarkP if you read this then would you please post your new office's address for Storm Aviation.

Looks a bit like noone wants to buy it or work there?
Of course I'm ignoring the terrific perks such as dinner with Barbera at Pizza Express.
GO.......somewhere else!

Well, Dot Cotton, I normally refrain from posting here until it becomes necessary to set the record straight.
You would be very mistaken indeed to believe that noone wants to work for GO. We must get at leats 50 applications a week from pilots applying to work for GO. Now, I accept that there are a good number that are unsuitable and naturally a number that are just testing the water, but you would be very wrong to suggest that there are not suitable numbers to fulfill all of the airline's requirements and more.
As for those that haven't passed the selection process; that is no indictment on their skills as a pilot necessarily. Maybe they just don't fit the profile that the airline are seeking. Hell, I've applied for jobs in the past and got turned down. I realised afterwards that they did me a favour, because the job wouldn't have suited me and I wouldn't have suited them. That is not to say that the airline in question was not a good one. Horses for courses, et al.
And before you all start throwing missiles, read what I said and not what you want to believe I said!
CB out of interest what % of GO-FLY pilot applicants have a 737 type rating ?
Have the Bristol flights required further recruiting or will the current EGSS pilots be sufficient via w-patterns and night stops ?
Would it be true to generalise that the GO-FLY salary package is as competitive as easyJet, or only in terms of basic salary?

Hey, ADC take it easy! If you want a slanging match take it down the pub.
I wasn't being disrespectful to you or your company, just reporting what I've seen and heard.
It's quite correct that I'm happy where I am. Just testing the water: doesn't make me a bad person. Straight talking benefits us all, and I'm not that bad to fly with, witness this recent exchange:
F/O "What would you do if I said you were a complete bastard?"
Me "Well, I'd report you to the GMFO under paragraph 13 sec 3 'thou shalt not call thy capt a complete bastard'"
F/o "What if I just thought that?"
Me "Don't suppose I could do much about that."
F/O "Well, I think you're a complete bastard!"
Cheers.
...and the final word of "Barking" comes into which category of something you've seen or heard???
