They needed DC3 pilots about the time that "Quelch" was Bunter's HouseMaster!

Good luck though ;)

Try Africa. Dragged one around the patch there a time or two. They seem to be reasonably popular......

I flew DC-3s in Alaska for the fish haul season some years ago.(September was the Silver season if I remember correctly)
Also flew the old Gooney Birds in the Virgin Islands: Aero Virgin Island. (Out of bussines after a hurrican hit some years ago)
Also flew 'em for Virgin Island International
Airways. (Out of Bussines) and for Virgin Air.
(Now called Air St. Thomas, they are still operating, but think the 3 is gone)

Good luck, great plane.

A couple of them are still flying in Canada, you can make a search somewhere in
www.tc.gc.ca/aviation/ (http://www.tc.gc.ca/aviation/)
And find those operators still using DC-3's

You could of course try Air Atlantique of Atlantic Airways or whatever they call themselves nowadays - but I wouldn't recommend it!

Is Basler Aviation still going at Oshkosh?

I think they may have ceased the DC-3 turbo conversions after Warren Basler was killed but the FBO would be a great source of information - Warren and his team knew everything worth knowing about DC-3 operations world wide.

Basler are still going strong, operating both straight DC3's and turboprops. Their website http://www.baslerturbo.com . I'm driving one of their turbo's in Brazil at the moment, a great machine, but doesn't sound the same.

That's great to hear Sheepster - I was very concerned that the tragic mid-air may have brought Warren's dream to an end. I had the priviledge of a tour around the Basler facility back in 1993 - very impressive and a great bunch of guys.

When I was in Oshkosh the newly-restored Sunderland was parked on the lake - anyone know if she is still there?

Jan Arrvak in Southern CA, USA. Has both DC 3 and DC 3 TP. Company name of Airway Transport.760-373-8044. I just got my DC 3 TP from him. You would enjoy either one though!
Best of luck...............

Great aircraft-I really love the DC-3. Anyway, I used to fly in the San Francisco Bay area and Otis Spunkmeyer (cookie mfg) flies a couple out of OAK for both corporate and sightseeing "bay tours". You might give them a try. Good luck!
