I read in a newspaper that King Hussein's Royal Flight transport was an L-1011 and that his son would not be using it. He has recntly purchased an A330 from the Sultan of Brunei for use as his Oficial transport.

I believe that it may something to do with a tradition where the Kings horse was never used/killed after the King had died, just a modernised version.

sounds reasonable, I believe I heard on the news when he made his first foriegn trip after the death of the King, that he was using a chartered aircraft as he would not be using his fathers'

The L10 being dismantled was flown to Jordan late last year for a c check. It was to fly for a local start up but was in too bad a shape so is being broken up. I think it's a -1 but will have to check. The Kings flight ac is up for sale at a very very high price. Itīs got low cycles and hours and has some nice kit if anyone is interested.

There was picture if a Rich International L1011 @ Amman in the aviation press last week, can't remember the publication, Air Pictorial maybe.Certainly looks in a stored condition.

The L10 at OJAI (in Rich International colors) is s/n 1134 and is undergoing a "C" check. The bill however has not been fully paid so work has stopped for the present, it should resume again shortly. The L10 at OJAM is s/n 1112 and was ferried to Amman for parts. The hull has been donated to the RJAF to be used for emergency training. I should know, I delivered them both. The need for A&P mechanics has been cancelled for the present I'm told.

I hear that Kerry Packer is very keen on JY-HKJ ... it's a lovely aircraft and will require little if any refurbishment except the removal of some of the more esoteric comms equipment and defensive kit.

Not shocked by that Guv, he had his eyes on an L1011 about 4-5 years ago which never came off. He would have difficulty getting it the Oz register as i believe they have not had one before, i guess a reg of convenience will be in order.

As you say the IR pods would have to go unless he has upset some well tooled up people. Have to agree that it is in excellent condition, did a few jobs on it at Cambridge, although the A340 will do the biz just as well.
