Danny, what's the reason for splitting up the single page that used to list all the forums (fora?)? Having to go back through this new page when browsing different forum groups is a pain, especially when I am only checking whether there is anything new on, for example, my specific airline forum.

Agree with Hew Jampton. Personally I prefered the old layout, easier and faster to check in only one go ;)

Yup, I agree - the new layout is less ergonomic and involves more button pushing!

Still, I shan't be running away.

Keep up the good work. I do not know of anything, be it web based or a publication, that gives me so much information.

I agree. The old one was graphically more elegant and user friendly.

I have to side with the majority, too much back and forth now! Whatever happened to the search option, it seems to have dissappeared?

I like the new look. The pages load much faster.

Airclues has got the reason in one. The server is under the most collosal load for much of the day now.

We are acting on it and a new multi processor server is being commissioned for us. Along with new software and greater bandwidth a huge improvement should be forthcoming in the next month or so. Until then it's a spit and baling wire approach to maintain semi normal access for you.

Firstly search is being shut down for much of the day. Next pages have been repaginated at 15 instead of 25 posts and finally there is the change you're mainly complaining about.

It would appear you're all navigating the site in one particular way. Now, if we put you in an internet cafe full of PPRuNers you'd be astounded at the different ways they get around the site.

As is traditional there are always two or three ways to achieve any task with a wimp (windows, icons, pointers and mice) computer operating system. You can get around using the cascading file manager type icon and caption method at the top right hand corner or use the drop down/up menu at the bottom right.

It's up to you - why not try working in another way - using the other system and having two or more windows loading while you read another.

Correct Rob,

My personal system is to have one folder in my "favorites" bar, with all the pages on PPRuNe that I like to visit. Another "one click" solution.

I find that's the navigations system that works for me

What a scary thought - an Internet Cafe full of PPRuNers http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/eek.gif

ESG, Put a short cut on your desktop and it will load IE, offer you your default DUN connection and take you straight to the PPRune Forums - all in one go.

Create a short cut for any other favourite sites you have.

Other sites? Do you mean other people are using the Pprune internet?

Hey,

Hows about a link to Chat in the Hop to drop down menu? :)

Great idea Smurfjet,

We'll have to put our thinking caps on though. Chat itself is housed away from our server and the drop down menu only looks for and displays actual fora on our system. One for our resident boffins methinks.
