Hi guys,
Just wondered if anyone has managed to get a job since sept 12th. Or is it as futile as it seems?

Yep - labouring for a fencing contractor - not quite as good terms and conditions but the roster is more stable and the directors aren't trying to screw me to feather their own nests!!!!

Guys there is work out there, however you have to be prepared to work for lower cash and leave Blighty.
Best of luck.:ok:

Guys, I know how you feel! I was working for TEA (UK) Ltd circa 1989 when the company went down at a time when the aviation industry was not doing well. I, along with many other, ended up resting for 6 months or so. It can be a depressing experience watching the bank balance go in the wrong direction along with coping with many rejections from various job applications, along with the loss of self esteem and getting in the way of the rest of the family because you are at home all the time.
I also had a similar experience after making many unsuccessful job applications following a family bereavement and having to cease employment to look after my children. I eventually took a job in the Railway Industry as a Signaller which I did for circa 3 years before finally gaining employment again with the airlines.
This was quite a learning experience but it did teach me that there is a life outside aviation and also never to give up!
So guys my advice is keep at it and remember that you are all worth far more than any amount of money or even some "prestigious" position in any industry! Use the time off to reflect on what is really important in life and, as a Chinese proverb says, "This will pass" - the sun will shine again, sooner than you think.

try Omanair at
[email protected] , there are some slots for current FOs with 500 + on NG . Great place to spend the winters !
flydubai will have a very low key start in 09 , prob with max 6 NGs by end of year ( depending on Boeing sorting out their mess ) and will mostly be Captains flying both seats to start with.

fireflybob,
Totally agree, we spend so much time in this business just chasing our asses that we don't ever do that important move, take a step back rationalise your situation & appreciate what really matters in life.
I think a major hurdle for many is a parochial "if it isn't in the UK I'm not going" attitude.
I was always amazed in Ryanair how many guys passed up on the opportunity to live somewhere that the sun shines just because they didn't want to leave good old blighty.
Not a uniquely UK mentality I know, but we are a bit restricted by it.

yes, this one offers 7 off in a row and daily flights available between RAK and LGW. Takes a 'few' days until the local CAA (DAC) clears the papers. Also Jet4you in Casablanca may be interested in people.

Don't want to put a dampener on your enthusiasm, but have a read of ppjn.com and what is written about Atlas Blue. BTW every agency you can find has that job on it's books, wonder why ? Believe Jet4You to be a bit better.
